Hey folks, How long should I practice in the gym before I head outdoors and climb on real rock for the first time?

Providing you have people around you that know what they are doing, get outside as soon as possible. There is no prerequisite for climbing outside. Gyms haven't always been around, you know. Josh

How about not at all/never? If it's too late, go now.

0. Stay away from gyms - they are evil, evil places that will steal yore soul and make you wear rediculous beanies.

Go now. Right now. Shut off your computer and go. Don't even finish reading this line. It's "rock" climbing. Sometimes we are forced to be plastic climbers (and hopefully that's a description of what we are clinging to, and not our personalities), but it is far inferior to climbing rock. What? Are you still reading this? Go. Climb. Rock. Now.

It would make a bit more sense if "everyday" were "every day". People do ask the question, so it's quite incorrect. It's also poorly written. FAIL

shockabuku wrote: It would make a bit more sense if "everyday" were "every day". Hmmm, you're right. After reading it three more times, substituting "every day" for "everyday," I figured out what he meant. Amazing what difference a little punctuation makes. Reminds me of the guy who, a few years ago, posted about the "big ass ring" he'd just bought for his girlfriend. Jay

If you can't quickly try to substitute every day for everyday why are you reading?
