I was wondering if people had any suggestions for a crag that would be suitable for 12 people. We are toproping and will probably put up 3 climbs at a time. We are coming from Indiana, Pa and don't want to drive too far. Also low approach time would be cool.

thanks

If you can lead, go to birdsboro, if not, go to ralph stover, aka high rocks. Both are found on this site.

Not a short trip from SW PA. Looks like trip to Birdsboro from Indiana, PA would take about the same time as a trip to the NRG...

No crag, anywhere, is suitable for a group of twelve people. ... Seriously, whatever happened to you and a bud go climbing?

According to google maps, you're about 2 hours from Logtown Quarries, Ohio.

(Full disclosure: I have yet to climb at Logtown, but from the photos/descriptions, it looks similar to other areas I've climbed here in OH.)

Oops, I misread southwestern and thought I read southeastern. Maybe check out McConnels Mill State Park...

The mill is an hour and a half, lost crag is about the same but I would suggest coopers rock which is about 2 hours.

go to breakneck rocks in connellsville pa. It can be found on this site. super easy approach, easy to set up topropes(shuts at top of all routes), and high quality climbs. there may only be 25 lines, but they are all good! There is a climb at every grade from 5.5 to 5.13. You wont be disappointed.

Hey thanks for the suggestion of the Lost Crag, Charley! We had 3 setups and they were very cool climbs. The weather forecast called for rain all day but only had a sprinkle when we left. This is now my favorite spot. Next time I am just taking the belay slave, the fiancee, and doing some more technical stuff.

It is fairly rare that you here people ask questions about climbing somewhere and then actually here that they did whatever they were asking about. Kudos to you and your horde of nubs!

Thanks John. We had great fun and plan on returning to the Lost or somewhere else. Was at Beam Rocks on Friday and was a good time.
