Everything. My Family. My Mom moved to another state and couldn't afford to come back for Christmas so what I got from her and my stepdad (whom I love very much) was this: A phone call on Christmas Day and Mom baked me about four tins of cookies and shipped them here to us. This is all I needed. Then, my Dad was away in St. Louis with "stepmother" (whom I don't love very much) and I got a phone call from him on Christmas Day. This is all I needed. I was with my wife, who no longer has to worry about her cancer, and after a year finally got to enjoy a holiday without the ugly thought of that on her mind. Her health. This is all I needed. I was with my Sister, my Bro-in-law (who is like a brother to me), and my two beautiful nieces. I spent Christmas Day laughing my butt off with my Sister, helping each other soften the blow of the first Christmas ever without our Mom. My Bro-in-law and I shared laughter, put all the toys together, and played with them. I watched my nieces laugh, dance, play in pure amazement and happiness. The way only a child can. This is all I needed. I sat back and thought about all of my friends here. Thought about some of the humorous things we say, the threads, the fact I can't wait to meet you. This is all I needed. I hope you got everything you wanted. I sure did. Steve

At the risk of sounding sappy, I got to spend time opening gifts and playing with my niece and nephew, which was the nicest gift I could possibly get.

A new rope and a set of quickdraws. A trip to the emergency room to see if I had a detached retina. (I didn't, thank goodness, but it's on the verge.) Another trip to the ophthalmologist in January to make sure the damn thing hasn't actually fallen off yet. Kate

since my birthday is the 22nd, I have to add b-day stuff in too! -2 studded tires for Blackie the Space Pod -flannel jammies -heron craft scissors -cool mix CD from sister and bro -really cool ice-scraper with insulated covered mit -snow! -Marmot Precip jacket -Green wool hat that makes me look like a sherpa -look on mom's and sister's faces when they opened the blankets I made for them and, the best ever full-moon rise I have ever seen in my freakin' life. It was the day after a decent snow and the sky was clear. I cruised over to Yosemite and wandered around. As I was leaving, something caught my eye and I pulled over to see the moon rising between El Cap and Half Dome. The sky was the most incredible pink and purples. I could go on. I hope the pictures turn out.
