You know.. wasting space on putting up secret areas with 0, 1 or 2 routes is bull----.. seriously, putting up a route that you and your buddies climbed with no one else to see if it worth a crap.. "hey guess what, my buddy and me climbed a 5.15, no we wont tell you where it is" or "there is an owner with a gun" well no shit.. IT TEXAS, and ITS PRIVATE, we get it..dont waste my time...

maybe you put up routes to spray about them? if the rock is good and you want to climb it with out hurting any type of access issues, then go climb it, dont worry about other people climbing it, it will still be there waitn for a 2nd ascent in 20 years when you are in adult diapers. climb have fun, respect land owners (especially if they have guns or are Texans)

what i am saying is why does it have to be on this website... let us know about it when we have a ligitimate access to climbing it... I don't want to see a new areas clogging up what useful info on the website.. for example.. this random place in kerrville that has one 5.10 on it.. oh but we can't tell you where it is.. why waste the space.. I don't spew ab where i climb.. i have my secret areas but i don't randomly post up the route and not tell where it is. that is crap...

Some people get soooo excited that they're cool enough to know about a secret area that they just have to spray about it.

In my experience the people who actually develop the area are generally not interested in having it swarmed by bottom feeders unless it's ready to be opened.

It is especially in poor taste when the area is on private property. If the owner was gracious enough to let them climb there, they should be respectful and keep their mouths shut.

RC.com is the place to spray about how great we think we are. I'd rather have people spray about their bs cliffs here, when this kind of nonsense belongs.

Did I mention I am developing TWO secret cliffs right now. Sly

I think the real take-home message here is: It's Texas and 99% likely the climbing at the secret area sucks dogs balls!

I would argue that Texas has some of the best climbing in the US and the world.

Some people may argue that Hueco doesn't really belong to TX... but I digress. I guess it counts.

Hueco Tanks is not in Texas. And nothing east of Midland/Odessa comes close to the best climbing even in the nation.

I wonder if the majority of the Texas population is actually closer to EPC than Hueco. My guess is yes.

Well, I was thinking about grabbing 20 of my closest friends and camping out at the base of it for a few weeks.

Yes. Austin, San Antonio, Houston, definitely closer to EPC. Even DFW area, which appears further on this map, is a bit closer to EPC than to Hueco (8 hours versus 10, providing the border crossing goes smoothly).

El Paso/Hueco Tanks has much more in common geographically, environmentally, culturally, and historically with the Arid West than it does with Texas.

Perhaps not but Enchanted Rock is a true gem.

To those who don't understand texas. Its fucking big. Anyone who lives here must accept the fact that to get to a gas station you will have to drive over 100 miles. So naturally to get to any climbing location you have to drive, sometimes, thousands of miles.
Being that one has to drive so far to get to an area, it should be expected that one should enjoy a peaceful and private climbing session. I'm tired of secrete areas being posted because it makes areas crowded. (Crowded is defined as anyone except me and friends) From now on, dont be afraid of the texas landowner with a gun, be afraid of the texas rock climber with several guns.

additionally:

I am in need of rock climbing gear... so if you show up to a secrete area, please bring all your climbing gear. This includes trad gear even if you're just bouldering.

To the OP: I hear you. It's really annoying having those "secret" areas posted here with no directions. They are secret for a reason. Either that's the way the original developers of the area wanted, the local climbers want it that way, or (what's more likely here) who ever put up the route was not supposed to be climbing there ie. private property, not having permission from the land owner.

And Texans always have guns.
