I thought the same way until I got bored, went out got some webbing and set up a slack line in the back yard....now I'm hooked.

Give it a go and see if you still feel the same way.

Why the hell does it matter if slacklining is climbing or not? This website is for climbing and climbing related "activities". If you dont like it dont do it. If you dont like the forum dont look at it. Simple as that.

slackline greatly increases your ability to balance. Climbing deals with balance...are you seeing any connection?

but to be a great climber you dont have to slackline. just cuz someone slacklines doesnt make them an automatic "bad ass" climber. It does help with balance, but you dont need to slackline to be a good climber

Slacklining for me is somthing very zin. I don't know a better way to get into a climbing mode than when your feet are only supported by a strand of 1" webbing.
Do you aid climb?
I aid climb with my feet only supported by a strand of 1" webbing. If you have trouble "top stepping" my advice is to slackline! Damn the frowners!

Slacklining - there's no better addiction in the world. Well ok, maybe there are better ones but that is no the point. How else do you get in the zone when you are not climbing without slacklining. Hey, not all of us can climb as much as we want.

Hey w6jxm,

To get even more off the subject, don't you think slackline does wonders for your telemark skiing as well? I've notice that my tele-turns feel more solid after some juicy line riding the day before.

To get back on the subject, I remember Yosemite's camp four outdoor climbing gym had a slack chain that we used to walk on back in the 80's before we started walking slackline...is the chain still there?

That's MY boy!!! Haa haa ha!!

Dean, Chongo, Cedar and I.... taught my son to walk a 20 foot line when he was 8 years old.

I hear you rrradam.... but some of these guys don't know what a troll is.

Slacklining is a personal pursuit.

Yeah, it doesn't have anything to do with climbing..... other than, you use climbing gear to be active in this growing sport.

It's all about, FUN.

Umm. Yeah, there's a few chains around the Valley that people still walk..... but it's frowned upon by the authorities.

Cheers, Ammon
