Hey.... So I climbed my first mountain yesterday and being Irish, I'm a bit dumb and never got the name of it ha ha. It's beside East Mount Rundle in Canmore with the Groat Creek parking lot between it and Rundle. Can anyone help name it? It might have China in the name? Thanks.

Did you do the 5.7 trad Northeast Face, or one of the Sport routes over by Sysiphus (sp?) There's a WikiPedia page that tells the story of how it got it's name (and why "Irishman's Peak" isn't a reasonable re-dubbing) and how & when it was changed to "HaLing". Also, there's a photo here on RC that makes one of the Northeast face pitches look awesome (if you don't read the comment): edit: fixed photo link

'Irishman's Peak'..... I like it, ha ha. I'll have to get on google after breakfast and look up the namesake. That picture is fantastic.

I love it. This guy set out at 0700 and was back in town for lunch, that's classic; RESPECT. You can imagine him rocking back into town saying "What's next lads?"
