Hello guys,
I have start climbing a month ago.
I want to buy a pair of shoes(my first one).
I have seen two kind of shoes:
1) La Sportiva
2) Five Ten
The La Sportiva one, they recommend me to buy them one or two size smaller.
Which one do you propose me to buy, since is my first pair of climbing shoes?

Buy whatever you feel most comfortable in. Shoes that are made of leather will stretch, shoes made of synthetic fabrics will not. Most gear shops will tell you what you need to know and a search with google about climbing shoes will yield a vast amount of info.

Buy which ever ones you try on and feel better on your feet. As far as brand goes, I would go with Sportiva. Their rubber seems to last longer than the five tens in my opinion.

I agree with only the first sentence. As a beginner, you will trash whatever shoes you purchase because foot placements won't be great. Stick with the most comfortable, inexpensive shoe you can find. Once you wear them for a while, you can stray into deeper and more expensive waters.
Stick with something like the Evolv Defy or the Mad Rock Phoenix, both of which can be sized for you.

This is true. I was suggesting based on the two choices that he gave. I started out with Mad Rocks because they were cheap and comfortable. The rubber was very sticky but the shoes didn't last long due to the texture of our gym's wall. It literally eats rubber. I only climb in my sportivas outside. I stick with mad rocks and climb x for the gym cause they're cheap.

There are lots of brands of shoes, not just 5.10 and la sportiva. I would suggest evolv or mad rock because they are cheap and being a beginner you will wear through shoes fast until your technique becomes better
so find a cheap pair of comfortably tight fitting shoes.

As others have said, go with what is most comfortable to you. One brand might end up fitting your foot shape better than the other. La Sportiva tends to fit me better than others. You can go cheap because you will probably wear them out fairly fast. There is no need for a really aggressive shoe until your footwork starts to improve.

I'd skip the Evlov's unless you get them dirt cheap. I paid $20 for a pair and still think it was too much. Maybe its just me as I see a lot of other folks wearing them, but I can't stand them.
I heard someone once say that 'shoes are the one thing that you can buy that will help your climbing' and can't agree more. So if you know climbing is something you are into, it's worth it to spend a little more on something that you will actually like wearing. That doesn't mean you need to go spend $150 or more on some 'high performance' shoe, but you can get good shoes for under $100 bucks if you shop around. Good luck...

Comfort is crucial , noobs usually trash them, so unless price is no object, keep that in mind.
Make sure you try them on, versus just buying them online.

My first pair were the 5.10 coyotes. They are super comfortable however 2 months in I'm starting to think I should have bought something more aggressive because I only boulder.

WTF is an "aggressive" climbing shoe anyway?

Buy what fits best and seems to work for you. I have simple advice that always seems to be a good starting point yet I rarely hear from others: look at you bare feet and start trying on shoes that are shaped like you feet!
What works for me changed as I leaned teqnique. When I first started climbing I like moderately soft shoes and rubber and I feel this works as a generalization.

La Sportiva Mythos is a great shoe for beginners and gives you room to grow... just don't expect it to edge like something more aggressive if you start to do tougher routes. It also stretches like hell so go small.
My first pair was the Evolv Pontas. I just bought another pair half-off and they're all over for about 30% off list right now. I have the Morton's toe issue but they aren't too bad - I just had to go a bit larger. They still fit my wider feet very well. They can smell like death if you don't take care of them so air them out frequently and use odor eaters religiously.
I've heard nothing but good things about five ten but I personally couldn't find a pair that I liked locally. Any of these three brands will treat you right if you make sure they fit correctly.

I would put money down that since he asked this 1.5 months ago that he has already bought shoes seeing as us climbers are an impatient lot.
