Hello everyone,
I'm a beginner in indoor climbing and I've just bought some equipment.
I'm a bit unsure about the compatibility of my harness (and also of indoor climbing in general) with the carabiner that I've bought.
Now the manual of the harness says it's only compatible with carabiners of standard EN 12275 which wikipedia lists as a "Recreation" carabiner. My carabiner though is only certified for EN 362,04-B (wikipedia states that it's for industrial use ...). I use the carabiner for securing the belay device (grigri) to the harness of the persons that belays the climber.
Can I have any issues with this setup? as far as I see the specification of the carabiner is pretty much the same as for carabiners that conform to the "recreation" standard; I just thought I'd ask in case there's any danger I'm not seeing.

Conditionally - yes it should be ok - go to your nearest climbing shop / gym / crag and ask. Better still, track down your local peak body for climbing and join up, then ask someone there about your gear and also tagging along to learn about climbing from real people (we are all nasty flaming spray monsters waiting under bridges so we can eat little children who have lost their mummies).
Also, unless you are trolling, try not to quote wikipedia as your source of information in a place like this, you may as well strap steaks to every inch of your body and go punch a lion in the face.

It would be much more enlightening to know what carabiner and what harness you are using (manufacturer and model). Most carabiners will be fine but there are some special use biners that aren't the best choice.

Good one on the wikipedia bit; you're right of course. I've checked that the standards at least match on other parts of the internet (not that that's much better). Also thanks for the advice, I'm going to ask some of the more knowledgeable-looking people at the gym this evening.

Donīt worry, EN362 is a slightly higher and different standard for industrial fall-arrest applications but the Simond Goliath has both norms anyway.
