3 of us went to Breakneck Tuesday. It was superb. The rock was dry. We climbed Mosquito, New School, Bowling Ball, GTB, the new line to the left of GTB and I led the 5.6 crack, which is a hard six. Hahahahaha. The rain came at 3:30 but I was plenty tired. An awesome day

A tremendous day at Snake Hill Cracks. I got them all, and so did my homies, Mike and Chris. Crying Holy unto the Lord!!! I'd hoped to finish the day at Snowflake, but it was not to be.

Eight of us met at Coopers and hung 15 ropes on and around the Sunset Wall.. Wayward Penguin spanked me, but I got up nearly everything else. I even repeated a few such as Stop & Go and Copenhagen. Hopefully I'll get out with Tony this week.

9 of us climbed at the New this weekend. Saturday at the Beer Wall, Bubba City, and Sunday at Sunkist Wall, lower Meadow. Awesome climbs, superb weather.

This forum is dead... As are adventurous Western PA climbers. The few of us still out there at the lesser known or still being developed areas in the "local" woods are limited to just a few. Most of y'all only visit a couple of the well known areas. There are many crags and great climbing in our relatively small area. Hike uphill, so what... it'll make a weak body stronger. How is that a waste of time? Go searching, there's more reward when true efforts are put into climbing. For once ditch the drive by cragging style and seek the gems. Drive hours to climb... NEVER!
17yrs+ of Southwestern PA climbing and still finding/developing new crags every year. How much climbing is out here in the Chestnut ridge area? I've forgotten the location of more nearby climbing areas than most "locals" have visited.

This is the first conversation In this forum that is anything more than a trip report. No offense D. .
As a new climber embarking on my second year outside, I can say that the number of local crags are an issue, an issue in there are so many. Climbing with the group from the ECP, I have been to about ten different spots and have only visited a few the second time.
The sheer volume of "local" crags can be hindrance as well as a blessing. With so many there is not a lot of traffic at each. This translates into not much to talk abut beyond your climbing partners. When was the last time any of us didn't have the crag all to oursleves?
We are blessed to have this conundrum, and we should feel lucky that we have this problem. And not be disappointed we don't use this forum more, look on the bright side, all some people have to ability to do is talk about climbing, we on the other hand just CLIMB.

Hey - Regina gave to me a copy of her short  but sweet  little book - 'FUN' Adventure Climbs at Seneca Rocks' - still looks like fun to me (other than no Camp'n/Party'n along Roy Gap Road - ancient history, though, final straw for me back then) - I even had a Roy Gap Road party T-shirt - wore it out.

Hey!
Actually - I'm looking for a partner. I'm a guy from Poland. I'm comf. on 5.9 lead, can climb trad but haven't done it for a long time. Also slacklining, caving.
I'm spending holidays at Cranberry, north of Pittsburgh. At 21 to 23 July we will be at Summersville. I'm also availiable for weekend trips (McConnelsmill, close WV etc.) up to 31 of August. If there is anyone interested please PM me.
Note: I don't have a rope, I don't have a car.

There is usually a large group that climbs every Tuesday evening at McConnels Mill. That would be great place to meet many of the local climbers!

Ive been cleaning boulder problems off at kennedys mill, about 5 miles past mcconells, and looking to get people climbing out there again. Also trying to get some interest in having a clean up day out there and get some of the trash out and some new problems up. Anyone interested? theres taller stuff, but if its any good i don`t know, i don`t play with ropes, but none of it is as high as mcconells. theres a couple chutes? in a few of the highballs though

I'm planning on using the original pitch of Grand Central with a group of guys during the first Lost Crag Summit on July 28, perhaps also on the 29th. So the area between that route, In the Thick of It and Pumper might be busy. Please plan your weekend accordingly.
I took a few hikes in the upper entrance earlier this week. There are a lot of greenbriars most of the way in. I took a knife to a few that we're sticking into the trail. If anyone should be hiking in between now and the 28th, I wouldn't mind if you cut a few more.
I hope this gardening request doesn't violate anyone's ethics. Green briars can poke you, so I think this is ok. Grumble here if you disagree?

The new equipment just came in and will be picked up in the next few days. Expect to see heavy duty new gear in place of old rusted questionables very soon. I did a fair amount of work there in the past few weeks improving the trail and clearing a bunch of the tree growth encroaching on mosquito and Old School. I cleaned all of Old school and will be changing the location of the old start and equipping a new "safer" start from the ledge above the original starting point. It will still be about 5.8 or 5.9 but without the deck potential. Hope this helps inform those who have donated. Everyday is sushi day ;) Climb on!

I agree Rayman. Not many folks like the Conn's. They seemed to live life simply and were very content and accomplished. Climbing with a significant other makes time "out there" even better...

Tim deserves much thanks and praise for the beautiful cleaning and rebolting he is doing at Breakneck. The two 7s on the right hand block are now easy and safe to set up and enjoy. Your efforts are much appreciated.

I recently took a trip down to Pittsburgh and climbed at the climbing wall. That was my first time and i only bouldered but i can't wait to go again. Now I'm in college in Ohio and I don't really have anywhere to climb till i get back home, I live in Latrobe though, so if anyone wants to meet up somewhere indoors over my winter break or maybe over some other weekend i can make it home just hit me up with a pm.
