This one is for all the Multi-Pitch climbers.
What is a good light weight, packing, belay seat?
I plan to use it on climbs at Bon Echo as I am not a fan of belaying out of a boat.
Thanks in advance for any advice...

The other day at EMS I got this dandy little chair http://www.ems.com/...p?productId=10970356 for free. Well, it was free after I spent $100 (chair costs $30). I'm sure with some careful rigging it would make a decent belay chair. Folds up, adjusts, and Weighs only 1.8 pounds.

Oh yeah, its just a copy of the other big brand I can't remember the name of at the moment. :)
I have two Crazy Creek backpacking chairs which are very similiar.
Never thought of that, I could probably make something up with that.
Thanks for the idea.
I do know they sell some though, that pack into little stuff sacks to clip nicely on your harness. So if I can find one of those at around the same price, I would prefer that.

I made my own years ago, but it was basically similar to the Fish Rumpsak. Folds up small, is light, and comfortable.

Yeah, I have seen that Fish stuff before, but that web site doesn't exactly give me a feeling of confidence in his products. :)
I was also thinking about the 3 point rescue harness they have down at the firehall, but I can't seem to find where they sell it, and I am thinking it would be very pricey since it is for fire rescue.

Fish is a character, to be sure, but he makes damn fine equipment and is one of the most experienced big wallers on the planet.
I wouldn't have recommended his gear if I didn't have full confidence in it's quality.

I was a little weary when I saw his post on Trango, stopping production on a product but asking him to make it for them instead. :)

Ahh, thanks mate! That petzl one looks identical to the one we had at the fire hall. Theirs wasn't a petzl though.

Yates makes one that is like $25. But honestly, you might not need one. Just get a big wall harness. I have sat in a bigwall harness for 60min per pitch on a hanging belay on aid climbs before, it's fine. But I also use my aiders to make a mini belay seat once and awhile. As far as free climbs go, you shouldent be belaying for more than 30min at a time in most cases, and a big wall harness will allow you to hang that long.

No, actually, Bon Echo is fairly short climbs. And I climb in a Wild Country Synchro which is fairly comfortable. More of an ice harness, but a great all around harness. Plus I like the bright orange, you can always find me on the wall.
No, I just want a simple seat to relax in on belay and to sit back as I rack my gear and organize the rope.
Bon Echo just comes straight up out of the lake, so you basically get on the wall and you are there all day once the boat leaves.

When you made yours, what kind of material did you use for the seat?
I think I will make up one of my own. Since it won't be supporting anything other than my static body weight and I will still be on rope, I imagine sewing it up myself will be safe. I will just use box X around the perimeter with some simple tight zig zag patterns where the webbing leaves the material.

This is going to be funny as hell, I haven't sewn anything in a long long time :)
I think I will buy enough material to make about 4, because I know I am not going to get it right the first, second and third time :)
