Reaching out the the vast RC.Com network.
I have a friend who is looking to take a sabbatical from work. He would like to work with "at risk" youth and combine it with adventure based sports (rock climbing etc).

Does anyone know of an organization where he might be able to volunteer his time?

Thanks,
Gail

Hi Gail -

My friend does fundraising and other work for this organization called Phoenix Multisport:
http://www.phoenixmultisport.org/

I also have another friend who started this organization called Urban Peaks:
http://urbanpeaks.org/

I also think there is another group in North Conway, NH. I can't remember the name of that organization, but will ask around.

If you want to get in touch with the folks at Urban Peaks / Phoenix Multisport, send me an email and I'll introduce you.

This is a great program here in San Diego. I don't volunteer with them myself, but I have many friends who do and really enjoy it.

 Gail,

They don't mention rock climbing specifically, but the AMC might have what your friend is looking for. http://www.outdoors.org/...eation/yop/index.cfm

Can't remember the name now, no time to Google, but Chris Sharma started something. Maybe around Bishop.
