Okay so i'm brand new to the sport and though i've watched about a thousand videos i've never engaged in rock climbing either at a gym or on a natural problem. I haven't done so because i live in Corpus Christi, Texas and as far as i know there is nowhere to climb!!! Are there any climbers in the Dub-C? I also spend half the year in Kerrville Texas where can I climb there?

You need to check out Enchanted Rock near Fredericksburg and El Potrero Chico near Monterrey Mexico.

You're kind of SOL down there. The closest rock is going to be...

Austin: Greenbelt and Reimers Ranch
San Antonio: Cub Cave and Medicine Wall
Near Kerrville: E-rock or Camp Eagle

If I lived in TX - which I did once - I'd consider moving. Which, obviously, I also did.

I did see a small wall advertised in CC but it didn't look too inspiring. Maybe you should open one.

Maybe you could set up a bouldering wall at your home? I haven't done a search myself but it sounds like there isn't anywhere in your area.

I found this climbing gym listed as being in Corpus Christi.

There are several nice ones in Houston if you're willing to drive a little.

Yeah looks like the nearest one is in Houston, which is a fairly long drive.

If you're living in Kerrville also, the nearest climbing gyms appear to be in Austin... which is about a 2 hour drive.

If you go there you might be able to ask people there about local climbing, etc.

I won't be of much help other than to say I feel your pain! :) I live in Manitoba and the closest gym is an hour drive away and the closest rock to climb is 3 hours away. It makes it pretty tough to get out climbing. I am so desperate I'm thinking of making an outdoor wall/tower with my tree as the main "trunk" of the support system. :)
