Old Dual Stem Camalot Trigger Kits?

I was on BD's site and they list trigger kits for sale, but not for my green .75 dual stem. I have... had 2 of these, but now I'm down to one because the cable broke to pull the trigger so only 2 cam lobes will pull.

Any ideas on where I can buy a trigger kit for it? Will the same size from another style camalot work?

Those things are one of the worst cams ever made and basically a disaster waiting to happen - I put it in the nearest recycling bin.

Why do you say that? Just curious.

Have I just been lucky this entire time? I've taken about 3 whippers on a .75 and .5 and they still seem to work fine... but now you have me worried. Any reports of failures?

They were prone to cracking, cable fraying, and collapsing around 9k:

holy shit. I'm so glad you showed me this. Thank you, seriously... I feel like I cheated death... Shocked

I can't really afford to upgrade my rack at the moment (which I really need to do). In the meantime I'll just sport climb or stick to the slabs.

Wow. This is thread is amazing.

-Somebody came to rockclimbing.com and asked advice.
-Good advice was given.
-Advice was well received and the original poster was grateful.

This thread needs to be closed now and encased in gold.

+1!!

Patto, just in case - I'd also call up or email BD Customer Service. They may have trigger kits sitting on some shelf.

If you're going to retire it, consider sending it in to the BD QC lab - they love destroying old gear to see how well its stood up to use!

Spot on. I have a couple of these. I never use them anymore. I used to just fix the triggers myself. Now I don't bother. I will never understand why BD to this day, has the shittiest triggers on their cams. Every single camalot I own has had multiple trigger replacements. All of my Metolius cams have never had a trigger wire replace. Most of those are now over 20 years old.

Oh well.
