There are some pretty spectacular photos on this site. And beneath every good pic s a comment by someone saying that it is the best picture on the site. Lets find out once and for all which one are the best. Feel free to nominate as many pictures as you like and post them in this thread. I would like to create a list of the best picture on the site, new or old.

One rule: please don't nominate your own pictures, unless you feel that it is really worthy (Note: the top photgraphers of this site, especially climbnow1, orangeoverhang, etc. may post their pesonal favortite of their work.) The purpose of this rule is to keep people from nominating poor quality picture.

This one is "classic"...

It is of Paul (addiroids) making the FA of a building at the University of Nebraska I think. Notice the "home-made" Big Bros made from 2X4's... Can't see his rope, but he got the FA on this "classic chimney", in good style, and did it frugally.

I've climbed with Paul many times, even took him up a 3 pitch .10c in Tuolumne. He is quite the character.

hehe the pro looks a little sketchy there...

by my vote has to go to anything by climbnow1. his photos ROCK!! i especially love the one of a dude leading a 5.14b sport route in Germany... with a children's park in the background! "mommy, can billy and i go to the park and play on the 5.14b?"

that guy is a real expert photogropher, everything in his album rocks! strong people too, hard lines, beautiful rock/scenery, great angles.... mmmmmmm.....

re: Paul's Pro

It was solid, so he says.

You know that boulderers have their "woodies". Guess those would be the "woodies" of a Frugal Trad Climber.

Basically, Paul is my hero. We need more Paul pics!!!

Sorry to hijack the thread, but...

He should get his own Forum...

Ask "Poor Paul": A Forum for the starving climber.

Example threads:

"Ask Poor Paul... How many uses are there for 'shoe goo' ???"

"Ask Poor Paul... How can I extend the life of my rope, even though I've exposed the core ???"

BTW... This is all in jest, as Paul is safe, and he was 3rd Year Med, before he quit to climb and drink more.

He made me make a "Paul Box" when he found out that I regularly clean "bail gear" and throw it away. He had a coniption, and made me make the box to throw the items into, then give to him whenever I see him.

Hell, on that same .10c, I watched him try to clean a stuck #3 Stopper for 45 minutes, only to admit failure, and leave it to finish the climb.

Well I'm very honored that my FA got nominated and especially by such a badass as rrrAdam. Also, that is very "non-aid-climber-like" of me to be climbing without a funkness, even if it is a 3 pitch in Toulumne. I have added a little ball-peen hammer to my free rack just for "fixed" stoppers when the large hex won't work as well for a hammer. I can't wait until Tahquitz season so I can beef up my med-small stopper collection.

As you can see, there is a notch in the concrete on the building that the lower side of the 2x4's sat in, but they still had to be cut and beveled (whatever the hell that word means) so they would have max suface area. Basically, I wanted to make damn sure I didn't die if I were to fall (which didn't happen).

Uses for Shoe Goo

-Dental fillings
-Flapper repair (mostly for bolt clippers)
-Extend the life of shoes that have no more connection between the sole and upper of the shoe
-Makeshift shoes
-Enlarge a #1 stopper to fit a #7 stopper placement after a 40' runout and no more nuts
-Reattach fingers after falling onto that "bomber fingerlock" you pulled down to your waist
-Sniff the sheat when you run out of Guinness

Po' Boys Rope Fixer

Yes, Tim got it correct! DUCT TAPE is the answer (for any question really). The leader is the one facing the big falls anyways, so if he has the good end, the cleaner can tie into the duct taped end and not really have to worry.

The best part about this is the reason that the core is exposed is from climbing all those lovely offwidths and squeeze chimneys.

And if you want to seem like the really nice guy, you can "offer" to take the duct taped end and let your partner take the "non-duct taped" end. Really a big hit with the ladies whether they are the partner or just swooning onlookers.

And my favorite pic is:

TRADitionally yours,

Cali Dirtbag
