Just wondering what the climbing conditions are like at the gunks these days. It's supposed to be nice this weekend (in the high forties and low fifties) and I was wondering if there is a lot of snow/ice or water seepage on the routes. I would be driving for more then 4 hours to get there, so I would appreciate info on the conditions. I don't want to do the drive to find out that the climbs are all wet.

Thanks in advance
Wojtek

I was at the Gunks last weekend. I was there to boulder but took a look at a few routes. It appeared that a good many of the climbs were dry. In fact, lots of people were hittin' the walls. I think they are expecting some rain/snow tomorrow so I don't know how that would change things. The carriage road was still a mess, lots of snow that turned to slush by saturday afternoon. Given the warm weather this week, I would think things would be even better. However, the top of the cliffs and some of the larger belay ledges looked like they still had snow. You may be forced to stick to single pitches, or climbs with hanging belays to keep from having to stand on or walk off in snow.

because if conditions are bad, injuries and accidents are more likely to happen, duh.

You might want to to post on gunks.com.

It's supposed to be nice this weekend (in the high forties and low fifties) -Huh?

I am glad that I left Oswego, NY for Southern Cal about ten years ago. My milieu now does not included high forties as nice weather.

Thanks for all the replies.
I have no idea how I got this posted in the injuries thread. If a mod could move it to an appropriate threat, that would be much appreciated.

Thanks again for the input.
