Due to a personal mention from a Rebecca Roberts in relation to an old aid climbing thread, amongst other events involving observing belaying mistakes I have seen, I decided to start videotaping my friends and myself belaying, tying knots, etc. I have yet to ask my friends for their permission, but I'm sure they will consent. What I plan to do is start taping all of the time like a documentary filmmaker. This gets people used to being taped, and they forget about it. They then are more likely to act naturally and do the things they do. Later, we will all sit together and review each other's habits and techniques. If any bad habits are found or flat out problems, well, there they will be on tape. No memories to cloud the facts.

I think it will prove to be a very helpful excercise and I encourage you guys to try it too. At the very least, all the cursing, cheating, and frigging will be documented. That'll be worth a good laugh!

Anyway, stay safe and have fun.

Thanks. We aren't all newbies, but some of us (me) definitely have some bad habits to uncover. Ive' been climbing three times a week for five consecutive years without a break. My footwork to rope position problem is in the works deprogramming. I got about a 8 out of 10 score from a spot test. Still need that 10 out of 10.

Foot goes here...rope goes here...climb goes here....
