One of my buddies and I are planning a trip to red rocks the weekend of the 8th-10th. If there is anybody else that is planning on being there I would love to know. Always up to meeting fellow RC.com's and climbers in general. That and I would also like to get some beta one a couple of peoples favorite climbs. Thanks alot.

I went at that exact time last year and it was one hell of a hot trip! The only saving grace was the lack of humidity, so the shade was actually not that bad. Bring water, get some good climbing in, and enjoy!

Ya i'm not really worried about the heat becasue I live in southern utah where it is basically the same temp as red rocks. Thanks a lot. I'll note to bring some extra water.

i just spent 2 grand weekends at red rocks .. tons of incredible climbs .. tons of climbers too..

what kind of climbs do you want beta on ..

i mostly did long moderate trad routes ..

cat in the hat
geronimo
froglands
olive oil
crimson chrysalis
dark shadows

... my favorite were dark shadows, crimson crysalis, and olive oil ..

dark shadows is pretty intimidating, crimson is sustained.. and on olive oil i dumped my large gear too early and ended up having to run out the last 40 feet of the lsat pitch ..

I think we are looking for some longer trad routes (4+ pitches) in the 5.5-5.8 range. Planning on doing solar slab/solar gully. Any other climbs that would be great to fill up two other days with. Also any sport up to 10's would be nice. Thanks every one.

Solar Slab is a great mellow day on a wall, but I would suggest starting with Johnny Vegas to get to the start of the climb. I have yet to do JV, but SS gully is just boring and not really worth it. I climbed Olive Oil two weeks ago. It is pretty fun, but with only two real good pitches (2 and 6). Pitch three is fun and really easy. The others are not very exciting (completely up to opinion). Pitches 4 and 5 can be run together with no problem. Have fun. I live here, so let me know if you would like to get in touch.

I forgot to mention one thing about Olive Oil. If you climb it and bring packs out to the climb leave them near the decent gully and hike around to the start with just your approach shoes, gear and small pack. This will save you about an hour or more once the climb is finished. You can't miss the decent gully as you go towards the start of the climb.

Thanks again every one for the great beta.
I'm planning on a great trip, and just to get ready for this trip I went out and bought me a full set of hex's. I used them for the first time today and they are totally awsome.

One other thing. If there is anyone that will be at RR's and wants to get together and bar-b-que or what not just let me know.
