Restrictions: Every spring the state and federal governments close off certain climbing areas due to raptor nesting. The restrictions usually last from February to August, but may be later or earlier due to climate, elevation, and unforeseeable causes. This is a list of the areas affected in your state. This is in no means a complete list of the areas, every year different birds take over different areas. Thus your area may have the ban lifted due to the fact that the raptors decided to nest in a different portion of the climbing area. Please check local climbing shops, websites, signs at trail-heads, and with local climbers to be sure of the restrictions. If you know of any other restrictions please feel free to reply to this message with them listed. Here’s to a safe, profitable spring climbing season for us all, T.J. Well it looks like it's almost working now, I will work on making all the links usable at some point. But for now please make note of the climbing areas near you that will be closed. Make sure to use those contact numbers as well, an informed user of a climbing area is less likely to get a tresspassing ticket...and make us all look like we don't follow rules. you are right you do deserve a butt load of points for that one. In WA there are certain walls that you can't climb due to the raptors too. Locally at the Frenchman Coulee there are those restrictions. Check out there or drop me a line and I can get you some info The Russman

I couldn't get the link for North Carolina to work. Heres an optional link you might could add. This is to the Carolina Climbers Coalition website. The website is possibly going to change its name but for now the address is www.carolinaclimbers.org. On the home page is a link listing all know closures. Its updated on a regular basis.

Thanks for the info! I can tell you put a lot of work into this. I'll be sure to double-check the restrictions on outdoor climbing areas this summer.
