There is no double plus on the IPS.

And v2+ doesn't begin to translate to v6.

Maybe not on your IPS. My IPS can kick your IPS's ass anytime.

Or just call it Woodson 5.11c and get busy. Bring tape, and check your expectations at the door.

Except for The BCOF and a couple of other things, the best bouldering in Flagstaff is not on the Limestone.

Sounds more like Jacks Canyon! Which is not bouldering at all.

And which is also not in Flag.

Try again!

actually, i have it on good authority that the anaorixic nerve dance/carnivore roof was a smooth slab of rock until this guy got a hold of it, armed with some diamond bit drills and a water-cooled sander.....

kerwin klein. just another oldskool poser trying to look cool.

(edited for spelling, 'cause curt's so anal, and he ain't done anorexic...justa bunch of stuff 5 V grades harder heh)

Oh Lox, you're just jealous because you didn't do the FA of Carnivore over 10 years ago...Kerwin, on the other hand, did. heh. Along with half the other early hards in the two main Draws.

Speaking of Carnivore...you seem to be a little fixated on asking Curt if he's done Anoroxic Nerve Dance....so I gotta question for you...DONE CARNIVORE YET???111

bad news, lox. collar dude can still hike it. not in his flops, anymore, mind you...but you get the picture.

changing the subject...here's a serious question we can gnaw for awhile. what's the diff 'tween "new school" and "old school"? peeps seem to make a distinction, but no one has ever spelled out the distinguishing characteristics. i've never considered myself to be from any "school", i just bolder, and will continue to do so till I die.

And you, Lox, are approaching the mileage -- 12 years, is it? -- where innocent young grommets will consider you "old schoool".

Thoughts? I don't see any difference -- most peeps play by the same rules, use pads, high-tech shoes, etc. So what defines the differentiation??

Oh hell yeah I bet he can. The same way the dood you met in the bar can still hike the Receptionist... prolly barefoot.

Resident power.

And I'm going on 16 years, sporto...

I guess the main difference between oldschool and newschool is the generation gap. I am not even GenX for chrissakes !!11

I have been a strict bolderer since 1998 and internet saavy since 1995.

If someone has a label for that, wonderful.

Because I, like yourself, certainly don't.

I guess in the context I have been using it in, it's just a reworking of the term "old", since old by itself sounds so harsh, yet oldskool adds an air of authenticity.

It's ironic though, because that 'air of authenticity' from being a 'pioneer in the sport' is like, the entire foundation of a lot of these peeps arguements... oh you gotta respect that guy because he was the first guy who.............. blah. He was oldskool. good for him, good for you, good for the entire over 40 crew.

Unless you're John Gill (obvious genius), the fact that you are oldskool alone means little here.

You still can't act like mutant and be resepected.

hahahhahahahahhahaha.

Yeah, that dude FA'd the receptionist. Proud. I look forward to getting some beta from him on the "easy" PD problems i'm still getting spanked on.

Question: you point out that he can probably still do it barefoot. I agree with your assessment. I think that deserves and demands respect from his fellow bolderers.

(God knows Surfers who paddle out into Maverick's on a triple overhead day get the respect of their peers just for trying, even if they don't make a wave all day)

So, why should we spend so much time dismissing or downplaying the achievements of our predecessors, even the run-of-the-mill folks who never got a climbing cover or a biography? I give props to anyone who climbed way back when, simply because they did it and survived. And for the 25 - 30 - 35 year vets who can still pull hard...mega respect. They're lifers, and that's one of the ultimate achievements, in my view.

Well... the issue is that respect has to be earned by ANYONE in ANY social situation.

I mean.. say you meet your favorite movie star actor and he is a rude asshole and brushes you off as a "commoner" or something. You immediately lose respect for him, despite his obvious social status and your previous affinity for him.

If a MP comes on, or a bobd1953 or mutant... and all they do is criticize me, my climbing ability and my intelligence... WHY should I extend them respect ?!?!

I get the feeling from you, bvb... and perhaps you asked that gentleman if I actually can climb, that you at least believe I am an intelligent, capable bolderer who can take the freakin' joke, man.

Some of these cats (curt) want me to be "held accountable" for something... and some of his friends (your friends) join the site (it seems, by the # of posts these kids have) just to tell me how much I suck and how I need to listen to my "insecure desires" or some shit.

Why the EFF does THAT command respect... just cuz this guy's career is twice as long as mine ?!?!

Effin' eff, effer... pen a coherent sentence, for chrissakes.

So that's the long and short of it.

Some friendly internet back and forth is nice, but there are certain things that I get tired of dealing with just because the lastest 1983 rookie of the year has never heard of me or CURT N. VADEMYPRIVACY doesn't mind people running credit checks on HIM cuz of his rc.com profile and six hundred thousand dollar car.

Respect ?

There are a lot more levels to that than what you did 15 years ago in EBs.

If I could understand what he meant, I might be able to respond.

But all this makes me is terribly sad.

Luckily, he does not seem to want to be grouped with y'all... and is prolly the dood who will pick me off as I top out Tin Ho with a 3030 from the top of the Triangle Bolder.

OK, being well over 40, I will translate here. Perhaps we are getting to the crux of the matter.

If any of these people had come out, as you assert, and initially criticized your ability or integrity without provocation, I would have been right there at your side defending you. However , this is not the case. YOU chose to flame them and then you claim some sort of right to defend yourself from their attacks--which, in fact, you initiated.
