I'm currently living in Portland, OR, my boyfriend is in southern Utah, and he's looking at graduate schools. UT Austin has a great program in his field, but I have no idea what the climbing situation is out there. Can anyone offer thoughts/suggestions/ideas?
I really appreciate the help.

Look at the route DB first. Short answer= yes... best climbing Texas has to offer (outside of Hueco).

Check the climbing database on this site. Tons of short limestone sport routes and bouldering to be had in and around Austin. Enchanted Rock is about an hour or so west of Austin and has good granite trad, sport, and bouldering. You're also only about 4 or 5 hours from Potrero Chico down in Mexico...

yeah there is plenty of climbing around austin. I drive the 2-3 hours from College Station to Austin whenever I can. Also It isn't too far from E-rock
