Hey all TX climbers (or those who travel through TX to climb). Two questions: Where are the best places to climb? And who is looking for people to climb with (Im part of that group 8) )? I live in San Antonio but road trips r always good. /Mark

Near you... Enchanted Rock (trad/sport/bouldering), Reimer's Ranch (sport/bouldering), and many other areas in or near Austin. Check the RDB. (Routes DBase)

There's also some new limestone routes in San Antonio near you. Check out the message board at www.texasclimbers.com for details. You can e-mail the guy who posted the message for a topo and driving directions.

I am thinking about moving down to Nacogdoches (to attend SFA University), what is the climbing like in that part of the state. I checked the routes database but no info for that area. ANY info will be most appreciated. thanks

Yeah Reimers and E-rock are the best bet for central Texas. Paradise on the Brazos and -dare I say- Mineral Wells are up towards DFW. And just so no one gets up in arms, I will say that Hueco Tanks has some of the best bouldering anywhere blah blah blah... It is also a pain in the neck to drive to. Id rather go to CO where it isn't 110 degrees in the shade

In reply to: The best Texas climbing is in Oklahoma. I second this. Hueco is not Texas. It is closer to LA than most places in Texas. El Portero would be a close second
