Since watersprite is a proven climber in this community as well as has offered up good advice many times to new and old climbers…. AND since there is only a “sneaky” suspicion that reedy is just some innocent noob, I definitely advocate for those harsh words on watersprite to be retracted.

gawd, will this thread never die!!

Not if you don't shut your gumby mouth and let it die. It seems to me that you and your groupie "thrillseeker" have made at least half of the replies on this thread. Get a life you internet whores!

You don't even seem qualified to give even a smart a** response to a thread about rappelling, considering your lack of experience on the subject.
Maybe in the future you should consider only giving advice on subjects that you actually know what your talking about.

so shhh... zip it , no watersprite, not another word. Just fight that urge and resist responding anymore!.... fat chance!

No it doesn't. It means she likes guys. Which may or may not be an insult, that's up to her.

Why are people discussing heat buildup on an ATC? I mean, that would be an issue if you were doing real long raps on fixed lines, in that case you'd probably want a rack anyway. For climbing purposes, heat on an ATC is fine. I've done many a rope length rappel with an ATC, and occassionally to get down multi-pitch routes. And when getting down multi-pitch, you're going to have to wait for your partner to rap, pull the rope, and rethread. So your ATC will cool during this time. The heat buildup is not a big deal, as long as you don't go super fast. If you go a bit fast for a couple pitches, it might get a bit hot to hold. What, maybe 150 degrees F max? That's not hot enough to melt anything. iF you're careful and go slow, it won't even get that hot. Just heated enough to warm your hands on a cool day.

Think we can make it 13?

I remember seeing a spot on TV once about soldiers in OZ rappelling face first, basically running down the mountain. Does anyone know what sort of rap device they use? I couldn't imagine using an ATC for something like that...

Hey, I got a copy of "Learn Rock Climbing in a Weekend" I could send Reedy. Yep, everything you would ever want to know in 96 pages. 4 whole pages with pictures and diagrams devoted to rappelling.

"Some gave all, all gave some..."

Hey Reedy, don't sweat a bunch of these idiots. In their life's entire, what does there flaming you really mean? That you have lied? That you have more then one name on an otherwise pointless website. Just everyone remember, in the scheme of things, the only thing important is survival, and survival is passive. The worst part, the most threatnening parts, of the rc.com menace, will be eliminated rather rapidly, but that won't be the end of it. When you see these mentally unfit individuals in the field of boulders, and you're climbing two grades underneath them, remember that you have thought outside the box, and choose to remain yourself in the heat of this flaming, and they're changing there true personalities to show off whatever person they think they can be over this connection of hardware, and boredom. It's not what you did, it's how you change what you do that shows you're the bigger man. If any of these guys/girls, shows up at your door, just take every ounce of energy put into your previous amount of typing, into thrashing that individual with a swift kick to the chest.

In laymans terms... "Fuck 'em!"

Sincerely nobody important.

Somebody please show up at my doorstep.

I just want everyone to know that this thread has been the high point of my day. And I can definitely use the laughs -- I've been in Iraq for five months, and still have a month and a half to go.

Watersprite, you totally crack me up! We've got to get together when I get back to Cali!

Waterspit- Look through her posts, a complete troll.
I think it would be hilarious to see you climb seeing that it would be your first time and all, above say 5.4. Your trolling pissed me off at first but now that I know your bi-polar and can't really help it, I can deal with it. Be somewhat nice to the newbies since you are one yourself. Good job learning some of the terms and what not from the books out there. I'm sure you have alot of buddies on this site and I would not want to piss them off but you are an idiot. Treat me as a troll if you wish waterspit. I'm sure you can come up with something. Who is the best TROLL on this site? There's an idea and everyone can argue about it as well. Great. Happy trolling. Troll/Flamer whatever. That's all I have to say to you...
