Hello Boys and Girls: I'm sure you've all been waiting anxiously for the newly developed PCC to begin...wel...so have I ;). In the Begining I simply wanted a place where I could improve my photography and share ideas about Rock Climbing photography with like minded individuls. The PPC will constantly be evloving, and changing. With input from you guys we and effect serious and beneficial chages in how this forum functions. For now we'll simply each post single pics to a thread, and exchange creatice criticisms/discussion on what we see. I'd like to limit threads to 4 photos at most (one per user) so no one's work gets lost in the shuffle. As the pics and topics age, users can start posting new pics, and hopefully keep new content in constant rotation. This process WILL change when Tim and Biff implement some few VERY cool tools they are devloping for us, but until then we can start and have some fun. PLEASE be civil to one another, keep the criticism constructive and NOT directed at the author. Thanks again to everyone who's involved, and let's have some fun. Krillen

I`d like to suggest that we do not rate the photos with any sort of scale but rather allow our critique to speak for the photo. This way we will need to put a bit more thought into our individual critiques. I`m happy to go along with however this forum evolves though, whatever is agreed is fine.

Are we posting photos with in messages here or just refering to URL's? Or does it matter?

It`s up to krillen to decide but my suggestion is that it would be best to post the pic within the message body. This way it can be referred to easily.

For now, just post them in the message bodies, since Tim, Adam, Biff etc. have plans to change the submission method for us. Also I agree with a "no grading" policy. The purpose of this Forum is to learn, garner discussion about what works/doesn't, and get creative criticizm from your peers. When you post a pic the regular photo submission you can have your photos graded, and that's where the PCC differs. The Photography forum was/is turning into a "Rate my Pictures" Forum, and it's pissing me off. It should be a place where this type of discussion is fostered, but doesn't, so that's why we are here.

Oh, there also has been some discussion about the view-ability of this forum. Some people have called the private nature of this forum elitist. Personally I find it much easier to maintain artistic integrity this way, but this is MY OPINION. Some would like to have the PCC viewable by all, and only postable by the registered members of the group. Which is your preference? Change or maintain?

In reply to: Are we posting photos with in messages here or just refering to URL's? Or does it matter? Either or, as long as everyone is participating. All comments for a linked pic should be kept here though. Thanks again guys/gals

I would like to suggest that we limit the number of requests a person can make How about each person can only post 1 photo a week. So for example my post this week would be: Biff - Sept 29 (Weeks always start on monday)

I don`t mind a bit of a free for all in the initial stages of getting this forum going but as we gain more fellow critics it should become limited.

I intentially worded it as one request, for that exact case. If you have a few photos (that are all related in some obvious way) It should all be considered in one request.

Right now I don't mind a couple of "requests" ;) a week, but eventually when we get more submitters one a week is the goal. I've just added OrangeOverhang, and I'm trying to get Jorg on board too.

In reply to: . For example my post this week would be: Biff - Sept 29 Hey guys, I think Biff has a good idea with request nomencalture here. I've noticed the topic titles are starting to get redundant. I.e - critique OR my pic OR please comment, etc.... If we could add the date the pic was posted for critique, and maybe a creative title, I think it would help everyone involved. i.e - Chalk Cloud - Oct.5 or Biff's Nekkid Bouldering - Oct.7 :P thanks guys And keep up the good work, you guys are really making this a great learning experiance and a LOT of fun.

I'd like to add that it would be nice, if you are requesting a critique, that you take some time yourself to offer criticism of other photos here. Sometimes it seems that new members pop in for a critique of their work but are a bit less inclined to post on other threads. You scratch my back, I'll wash your feet. Thanks. UB

agreed. This is why it's a critique CIRCLE. You have to be equal participants on both parts (what goes around, comes around). Also this is what differentiates it from the Photography Forum. Please try and participate guys/gals
