You can climb all winter in the SE, just might have to pick the right days/places. I have climbed in a t-shirt in the red during January. The places so far are good. I would add these: Bouldering: HP-40 Rocktown Rumbling Bald Sport/Trad The Red Wes

Looking Glass and Rumbling Bald are good year round. Currahee is always warm but I wouldn't advise anybody to go there unless you live within 30 or 40 miles as it's not that good but for bouldering Rumbling Bald, HP40 or Rocktown are great.

Rocktown is typically warm as it is in Georgia, near the northwestern tip/bordering Tennessee. (about11 miles south of Chattanooga...can also go to Rock City area there), with camping if you want showers and "the works" in terms of tent/winnebagos, bathhouse, fire pit and grills at the Cloudland Canyon state park. If going out west, Utah is nice in the end of Oct. and warm days/cool and breezy nights. (can get cold due to altitude switch from southeast). Calif. as well is warm if you are going West.

I've always been warm enough in my longjohns to climb most places and I live in the mountains in Colorado... Shoes big enough to wear socks in and handwarmers in the chalk bag, baby :D

T-wall for sure is nice in the winter.. also certain areas at the Obed stay warm.. at the Obed most of the Obed side and also South Clear can be climbed in the winter. This of course depends on the sun comming out and heating up the area.. gotta love south facing.. rck

Bump.... Come on guys, keep the areas going! I'm in Chicago, and am fortunate enough to have a month long break from mid December to mid January. Any cool sport/TR areas south of me???? :-)

Good stuff has been mentioned, wait for a little bit of a warm spell, and you can comfortably climb almost anywhere. Y'all north of the mason dixon line got the shaft in this respect, but some of your ice shore is purddy... Travis

I'm not sure of the mason dixon line, but we're definitely west of the missisippi. not too sure about that ice stuff, but a su;nny day and south facing cliff makes for the best climbing all year round. wait unitl the sun heats the rock to above numb finger temp and the friction doesn't get better. matter of fact, i hate the summer because it's too dang hot! not sure about areas in the south. seems like i was home a few years ago, and people thought 60's were cold. confused me really/

It's 78ºF and crystal clear today in Arkansas. I've climbed pretty much all winter here at times. We do have some cold temps and the occasional snow, but a bunch of warmer weather and plenty of south-facing rock (Mt. Magazine, Sam's Throne, Horseshoe Canyon Ranch). Trad, sport, TR, Slabs, cracks, off-width. PM if you want more info or need a partner. Cheers. :)
