Well, I haven't wrote a trip report in a while. This will be a short version and I'll try and work on a fully detailed one for my website: http://rocknrun.net We were working in Phoenix on the new Glendale Arena and ran out of material (I guess we work too fast). Our boss tells us that we have a few days off..... oh boy, what will we do with our time. The other workers in the arena can't believe how we hang in the high steel and climb around up there. We always reply, "You should see what we do on our days off". http://rocknrun.net/Photos/PhoenixArena.jpg Well, this is a perfect example. We left the arena around 9:30pm. Nobody had any wall climbing gear so we headed straight to Las Vegas to retrieve it. We arrived in LV around 3:30 in the morning and crashed out until 7:30am, four hours of sleep was "good enough".... haa haa. It took some time to rack up and were soon heading to Zion. We arrived around 4:30pm and Brian McCray and I decided to run up Space Shot. We had to hurry because our friends Dean and Jill were having a wedding party in Springdale and wanted to be there (Congrats Dean and Jill). So, Brian and I managed to get up the route in 1 hour and 36 minutes and 54 seconds, shaving an hour off the record. We were only an hour late for the party. We were "forced" into dancing all night, eating and drinking until the sun was about to come up. Our objective of the day was to send some unclimbed features on Angels Landing. The climbing was difficult and it took all day to get up three pitches. We rapped down some fixed lines and went to the Bit and Spur for their great burritos. http://rocknrun.net/...os/SouthofHeaven.jpg The next morning we went back up our lines and climbed well into the night. We topped out around 11:00pm from a two day effort, establishing a proud line behind us. I still can't believe the features hadn't been climbed before, it seems like the most prominant line on the wall. http://rocknrun.net/...s/SouthofHeaven1.jpg We called the route: South of Heaven - VI, 5.8, A4+ FA: Brian McCray, Kurt Arend and Ammon McNeely That's the short version, I hope you enjoyed it. hopefully I can get some time for the extended one. http://rocknrun.net/...s/SouthofHeaven2.jpg Cheers, Ammon

Right on! Nice job, Ammon. Can't wait to read the full story. 1 hr 36 m for Space Shot?! Damn -- it takes me that long to rack up. Good to hear you were able to get away from PHX for a few days. It was way too hot down here to climb. What weekend did you pull this off? Ed
