I DID A SEARCH ON THIS SITE BUT CANNOT FIND ANY INFO ON WHAT CARIBINER IS USED FOR WHAT SITUATION. CAN ANYONE POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION?

id say any climbing caribiner can be used for any climbing use but dont use caribiner that dont lock for belay or anchor use them for draws

Autolocking carabiners are good for masterpoints and daisy chains
DMM Belay Master is the best belay carabiner if you don't mind alittle bit of weight.
Wire gates are good for the rope end, or if you oppose them they're great for a masterpoint or opposing on your anchor pieces. Wire gates are what I'd recommend using if you're making an anchor with clove hitches.
light way straight gates are what I'd recommend for pro/bolt end, D carabiners work good for this.
Light way manual locking carabiners for situations where you want to use a sliding X to equalize pro, or any dicy situation where you want the added security of a locker.
those AMD'ball lock carabiners from Petzl I'd have to give a thumbs down. They're to hard to open if you ever had to escape a belay or had to transfer a belay or anything.

I was going to be an idiot and type out everything i know in this head about carabiners but what can i say....im lazy. So here you go. This is a practically complete info sheet on the types and uses of carabiners. Enjoy!

O, i forgot. It doesnt say this on the site. Wire gates are lighter and cheaper and they stay closed better than the traditional gates because of their weight. People might be fooled thinking they are not strong but they are just as strong from what i hear compared to traditional biner gates. The reason they stay closed better is because in the event of a fall or hitting a rock their light weight will cause less momentum movement of the gate which causes it to stay shut better. At least this is what i hear
