Does anyone have any info on the Jtree trip over turkey day? The website says info to come but its only 3 weeks away?
I have wed thru fri off and would like to go. Where will we be staying. how many going? Can I come without any lead equipment? What will the weather be like(or what should it be like) How much will it cost( other than what i need for camping suplies) Are there bathroom or showers there. How long will it take to drive from mesa. When are you leaving. Anyone want to carpool?

Don't really know anyone with the AMC. What I know is that you probably won't need any lead gear since they usually send out a couple of rope guns that lay siege at what ever area that they are at. They usually set up TR's on every route there and hog the area for the whole day.
Don't really like climbing near them.
Just a whole bunch of knuckle heads!

Sounds about right to me, Chris.
They usually camp at Indian Cove. Look for one of their newsletters at REI or a climbing gym. That should have all the information that you need. Good luck and have fun.

What's the difference between them and RC gatherings?
More people at the base of the climb taking pictures.

11 questions in a single post. Congrats man, that's got to be some kind of RC record.
- Weather around that time of year can be warm (60s) during the day and can drop below freezing at night. Wind can be a bitch.
- 4-5 hrs from Mesa
- Compost bathrooms. No showers. No water.

Hilarious. I'm part of the crowd. AMC member for a couple of years. The TG outing is usually a lot of fun and they camp in the "group camp" area at Indian Cove. Very nice, large, and convenient to accomodate the number of climbers that show up for the outing. Climbing is a different story. They try to break up in managable groups to keep the gang-roping to a minimum, but it rarely works out that way. Usually they just end up with small groups of gang-ropers but scattered over a wider area. For that reason alone I don't usually climb with the group. I will hook up for a few additional climbers and jump around various areas, but that's on my own -- not with the AMC.
If you are an AMC member, you're welcome to camp at the site regardless of whether you join them for the climbing. That's usually my approach.
Overall, most who attend are a good group of people, but there are some kooks. Be prepared for noobs and gumbies if you join them for climbing. Not always a bad thing for a nice, relaxed outing, but be prepared.
I may or may not be attending this year, but I've had a lot of fun at this event in the past.
