David, are you talking about 'Warren Harding' at Grizzly Dome in the Feather River Canyon, or another one?
The GD route is in the 10a-b range if you do stay on the boltline. The route got upgraded because of rockfall in 1985 changed part of the route, I believe. The local consensus is that the route is 10a-b, not the 5.8 rated in the earlier guide by Stahl, as long as you stay on the bolts. If you go right after the second bolt, then back left higher up, it does get easier.
Let me know what you think, as I am going to be updating my guide this spring and want input from others.

Curious if you wrote your guidebook. I did several first ascents on Grizzly Dome, including You're No Warren Harding. I placed the bolts by hand on lead. I climbed with Warren in the old days and thought of him in my utter exhaustion.
