i'm joining the air force in june and will be in texas for a while after i get out of basic. ill be bouncing back and forth between lackland and goodfellow afb for different phases of my tech school. i was wandering if there was anyone in the area who could hook me up with some info on local climbing areas or even a partner to go climbing with. even some info on where to find local climbers would be great.

Check out the site:

http://www.texasclimbers.com/crags/

The best places to climb will be Erock (mostly trad) and either Reimers Ranch or the Greenbelt in Austin. All are about 1.5 hrs away. There's a climbing gym (Petros) in SA (link is on the texas climbers site), where you can undoubtedly hook up with partners. There's also a bouldering spot a little NW of SA (Red Bluff, I think). They have all the details at the gym. Good luck at Basic.

You need to Email me. I was in the exact same boat as you. Goodfellow and all. And now I am stationed in San Antonio. umkippen@yahoo.com
