I love trad climbing, but recently I've found that bouldering is great fun and you don't require as much equipment. Just want to know what the general thought is on bouldering because in Australia there is a slightly divided community on trad and bouldering.
Either way, I find it just as good, if not more enjoyable. But I often get the quote, "You'd best not fall because you're at least 1m away from the pad below!" in extremely sarcastic tone.

Forget what other people say and just climb. Also (if you are feeling bold) remind them that most injuries occur when people are bouldering, and that every fall is a ground fall. (ok, maybe it doesn't sound as good as I thought it did). :)

who cars, just climb...

thats why when I climb alone I only climb routes that I know I won't fall on or I climb routes that I know the landing won't be painful if I happen to take a bad hold and plop off the route.

I like bouldering, I'm trying to get a trad rack, I climb almost exclusively sport right now (not much trad to do without a rack). Hey, who cares? Climb what you like and be safe, eh? If there were more bouldering here in this town, I'd just boulder (ok, I'd do a bit of trad as well...) don't worry what people say about how you like to climb.

Its all climbing in one way or another. One takes an eye for gadgets, another an eye for efficiency, and another for wicked sick pullage. I love them all. Just climb until you can't hardly move, have a few beers and go to bed.

I´ve always wanted to boulder, well, since I learned from the sport, but it´s hard to find a decent boulder around here, we only got lots of mountanis, limestone, to be exact. it must be cool to be wearing just shoes and magnesia

Who needs to boulder when there's lots of limestone mountains?

Obviously enough, as long as you are climbing, who cares if you are a few feet from the ground or leading a multi-pitch route? Climbing is climbing, period. You pull with your arms, you push with your legs (sometimes…), and then you are happy.

Do whatever your body asks 4, and try not to kill yourself in the meantime.

10 reasons why bouldering is good:
1) you travel light
2) see a boulder? can climb, no rope required
3) you get to use a toothbrush if you want to...
4) your dog/other pet friends won't get so lonely while you are up there on the rock
5) you can always sleep on your crash pad if you'r tired
6)snacks are optional but recommended...more can be transported
7) should you cuss like a sailor you can still be heard if necessary
8) laughter will be shared by more people as bouldering can often be a group thing
and: 9) you can "do it" alone or make a group experience (take that one any way you folks want )
and finally 10) you cannot quit at the crux-it's either do it and be done with it, or be done. period.

Forgot another advantage of bouldering… it is a great way to train!! Both, strength and stamina (in the gym, of course… in fact, I have never heard of someone “training” in the rocks ¿?).

I really don't care if I'm trad climbing, sport climbing or bouldering, as long as I'm on the rocks and getting some sun on my back. Who really cares what YOU are doing, as long as you are not putting someone in harm's way....Live large.. 8)

Remember, everyone is different. Not everyone likes the same things and not everyone will like bouldering or trad. I say, who cares what other people think, your the one who is living your life, not them. If you trully want to boulder, then boulder and don't think about what others will think of you. Its your life, and you make the choices! :D
