Yes there is such thing as too much chalk. Take a look at the popular routes at Smith Rock and you'll see what I mean. Also you should try and brush off the chalk you leave behind after climbing. Especially while bouldering. Oh, and the best way to get your hands to stop sweating is to stop drinking anything.

In reply to: 1 Is there some way people can train there fingers not to sweat so much when climbing. Train? not that I know of I don't know how long you've been climbing, but it could be because you are new (if you're not, well my bad). After climbing for a certain amount of time, your anxious-ness might calm down. Shy of using anti-perspirant sticks and surgery, I don't know what else to say
In reply to: 2 Can you use to MUCH chalk? Like my hands get quite sweaty so I usually cover like my hole hand in chalk. In addition to leaving marks on the rocks like dynoguy said, yes. The sweat and chalk can build up on your hands to a point where additional chalk actually reduces the amount of friction between your hand and the rock...plus you can get chalky boogers :P

Train not to sweat, I don't have a clue if that is possible... About putting to much chalk.. If you climb that route of every crag that everybody wants to try, you can see that, without putting chalk, your fingers will be white at the end of it. That means most people put too much chalk Have fun

I think maybe you should try Metolius Super Chalk, which has a drying agent mixed into it. It may help. Some of the liquid chalk products that are alcohol based may also help. Good luck. Curt
