Catering to Gumboots. That is apparently what this site really strives for. Sure, there are some legit climbers here. Even some of the heroes of the sport stop in from time to time. But mostly, it is a bunch of wannabees. And they are catered too. Like a vocational school where all they want is the $$$. They court you and tell you how much supportm, then they grab the cash,. and never treally help or teach you. This site seems to just want to swell its ranks with gumms and new users and not take care of the real climbers and allow them to be the individuals they are.

There is a proportionate, inverse ratio at work. The polarized ends are "rad" statements and hard climbing. The harder you climb, the tamer your rhetoric must be, apparently. The weaker your actual climbing, the greater leeway given for outlandish statements and absurdities.

In reply to: ...outlandish statements and absurdities. Very subjective.

In reply to: But mostly, it is a bunch of wannabees. And they are catered too. My favorites are the people that come to the site because they are wanting to get into climbing but have never actually tried it yet.

I climb kind of hard, and I spray absurdities like a broken sprinkler on this site. hehe.
