i'm very seriously considering buying some static rope (30ft or so... whats a safe length) instead of using some old dynamic rope i have... before i buy any... i want to know just how much the stretch will be reduced? i was told 8% reduction. Also... is there any particular thickness that's best for slacklining... i'm probably looking at 11mm. I'm not sure if the 11mm is too thick and will create too much friction. Anyway, if someone could guide me into choosing some static rope for slacklining it would be appreciated.

Thanks

depends on the rope in question. static doesn necessary mean it wont stretch.

Are you saying you want to use the rope for the line itself? If so, I'd recommend using 1" webbing. Reasonably static, and much more comfy on the feetsies. :D

yea i would definietly go with the 1" nylon webbing softer cheaper etc.

thats jsut what most people use...it slides better when you need to tighten it where as static line will just kink

go for the webbing

rock on!!

Relative to which static rope compared to which dynamic rope ??? Need more info to tell you.

Look at the tags... Look for "rope stretch" (elongation) for each rope, shown in percentage. Divide and you will have your answer.

As for slacklining... Use webbing.
