Hey, I would just like to know if I'm seeing this right. Every good climber I see (people who boulder or climb in the high levels) has huge forearms. I would just like to know if you notice that too. Thanks Vegok

I climb very bad and have very small forearms, so you are probably right...

Yes, it´s only you. Huge forearms have nothing to do with climbing. :P

It's because so many rockclimbers sincerely love themselves, so they spend a lot of quality time alone building those massive lower arm muscles

It's just you... Every climber I see who climbs well and makes it look easy have good footwork. Technique will last, forearms will fade during a climb. Good technique is 90% feet and 10% hands (think climbing a ladder, as you don't pull yourself up with your hands, you push yourself up with you feet.) When people first start climbing they are the other way around till they learn good footwork... 90% hands and 10% feet.

People who boulder a lot have huge forearms. There are lots of styles that "work" as far as climbing is concerned. You can be powerful, and mosh on short stuff. You can be thin with strong hands and good balance ( including good footwork to augment that balance) or you can be a big fat guy named Earl who puts down the drumstick of the Colonel's crispiest and wipes the oil off on your coveralls before you wail on some climb thats been vexing me for weeks . ( I have seen it happen. ) In any case, it takes all types. However, I feel the big red and white bucket needs to be banned at the crag.

I was more referring to male boulders mostly. Females have less testosterone in their bodies which results in less muscle mass growth. That’s the reason why female arms don't grow as big. But the boulders at my gym possess forearms like tree trunks. Their biceps compared to their forearms are much smaller but stilled toned up.

Now I'm hungry.

I've seen the popeye types at the wall. Sporting great ink and never wearing a shirt. So sexy. umm, they can't climb that well. I see these guys taking burns and stroking each other. They can pull hard moves but who cares. I have 10.5 inch forearms and 11 inch biceps. I'm way skinny. I keep my shirt on, don't use the tanning bed, and I don't own a beanie. I've shown these "good" climbers how to do it many times. This leads me to believe the post about forearms and self love to be the most accurate.
