there is a climbing community; well, rather, several fragments of a larger one functioning independently with some overlaps. generally, i've found that the chicago communities revolve around the climbing gyms here. the LPAC crowd. the Lakeshore crowd. Hidden Peak. Fitplex. VE. etc etc.

where do you climb in chicago?

Well, Galyans is the closest, easiest, and cheapest place for me to climb. Not really too much fun, but it works. I used to climb at hidden peak abit when I was home for the summers. It is pretty close to me when its not rush hour. Where do you climb?

yo. you can throw me into the weekend warrior crowd. i just got done suffering through a winter of every weekend visits to VE, now its summer time and you'll be able to find me pulling at least every other weekend trips to devils lake and surely some other destinations as well. i'm looking forward to finally checking out drapers bluff this summer as well.

seriously jonesing for some multipitch.

i may not fall into the weekend crowd as i get paid to take in some of chicago's finest urband mountaineering as well during my workweek :)

I will be heading down to RRG next week for a couple days mid-next week with two other climbers. And, will probably be climbing at the Mississippi Palisades the following weekend.

What grades are you after? Trad or Sport?

I tend to avoid some areas around So Ill on the weekends due to the drones of annoying chicago people. But almost every one of my partners grew up climbing in a gym in chicago.

The Fitplex crew rolls down to the SoIll quite often and occasionally up to Devil's and over to the Red.
