Skibs: Add my name to the list of volunteers. After I spend 7 months in the blast furnace (Arizona) I'll be itching like a psoriasis victim with crabs to get on the ice. I'm in.

In reply to: Mmmmm'kay, all, here's an opportunity for good karma. Erin Eddy, who organizes the Ice Fest, is already looking for between 8 and 12 good folks to volunteer their help. We talked about it during the last fest and I have been following through with him. Basically, volunteering means setting up tents Friday AM and breaking them down Sunday AM. It would not interefere with your climbing plans! I'd like to submit a good list of names to help (and to represent RC.com), so please let me know ASAP if you'd be interested in helping. I'm planning to be there the week before then just lend a hand during the festival since climbing that weekend is always a little iffy. I'm definitely putting my name in, but would like to have anywhere from 8 -12 other names to submit as well. Remember, ice is about karma (as well as not being stoopid). and this is good karma! SKibs please add myself and phatbstrd. John

I am officially IN!!!!! After hanging with Geo and my Durango boys last week and hearing all the stories about it, no way can I miss it this year. Not to mention a week ago Monday I was in Ouray staring at the long multipitch ice lines that geo said "now if you come to the ice fest, THAT is what we're gonna do!". I almost booked a plane ticket that second. Geo, can ya pick me up at DIA and haul me down there?

In reply to: Wait till you see the pics and taste the beer Beth, you may never leave Ouray after that. ;) No....I'd still leave cause Moab is only 2 hours away...but I might have to take some of your strong beer over the Utah line with me  . But I may ask old Cass at Apatka Drugstore if he'd want to adopt me and let me stay at his house there periodically  . I introduced him to Geo last week when we were there, he's my favorite old man on the planet. And a rare 70 year Ouray local!

Hey, ron, I haven't chatted with erin regarding this specifically, but I will be sending him a list of the volunteers we have so far. I'll mention the fact that we will also be wanting to attend clinics, and how would we work that into the schedule. Once he knows our level of interest, I suspect he'll take care of us. Speaking of which, is there anyone else wanting his/her name added to the list before I send it? It will be updated and amended as we get closer to the event, of course, but just want to be certain the preliminary list is as complete as can be! Wah00! Ice, Ice, Babee! Just a reminder, alpinerocket and phabstrd are in for volunteering.

In reply to: In reply to: In reply to: Told Gary if they had another contest I'd have to up the ante and climb nekkid. i got your belay skibby....  Okay. We'd have a spontaneous contest for the biggest THO! In reply to: p.s. -- why can't the o.p. picture be your new profile pic? While the coverage was minimal, the, um, subject matter wasn't exactly, so it would be deemed inappropriate for a family website. Come to think of it, I haven't even seen the shot! Any idea who has it and how to get a copy? Did i see that in the recent edition of Jugs...err uh imean a buddy said he saw an OP ad there....yeah thats the ticket. Ill brew up a special THO Porter for next year Skibs and you can quaff the innaugural pint
