I'm just wondering besides climbing; how I can work on forearm endurance, to prevent lactic acid build up? :?: Thanks

eat better....make sure you get a real well rounded diet. Citric acid helps as well (fruit fruit and more fruit). Make sure you stay very hydrated (I drink about 2 gallons a day). And oh yea, climb. Every now and then jump on a real easy top rope and upclimb and downclimb as many times as you can, never take a break and don't weight the rope. That helped me out a lot.

Not only will this make you look like Popeye (yah, I would need more sustenance than Olive Oil too), but it helps prevent cancer.

You could get one of those grip strengthing hand squeezers. I can't remember the specific name, but i'm sure you know what i'm talking about. That would help out some. Just get something that's not to hard and that you can do for awhile, then it will build endurance rather than bulk.

Doing laps on an indoor or outdoor route (I know you said besides climbing, but it really is the best way). Downclimb the route as well. Just keep lapping it until you can't hold on. Rest 5 minutes and do it again. Hangboards are good too. Hold a grip for 15-20 seconds, change to a new one, repeat. I didn't find any weight lifting exercises all that beneficial. Laps and hangboards made a big difference for me. Whatever you choose, be patient. It takes time.

http://www.rockclimbing.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=627652&highlight=#627652 My post talks about what I have been doing .. it seems to be working. Just after posting that I injured a tendon, and was out for 6 weeks. I have modified my training routine to help avoid injury. I have lessend the weight and increased the reps and also try to get the gym every 2 days, and warmup properly before pulling hard. A few days before my injury I noticed a dramatic improvement in circulation. While shaking out the pump, it felt like there was warm water flowing underneath my skin. It was weird, but it felt really good, and I could de-pump myself much faster, and in more strenous positions.

Heavy finger rolls work for me. Grab 100lb bar behind back and roll wrists up, then let the bar roll down to your finger tips. Repeat to failure. Remove some weight. Repeat. Keep doing this till there is no weight, then do mini rolls. I basically go for the pumpy pain; the more the better. Each set can last 7 minutes, about the time it would take to send a greasy valley testpiece.
