You make some valid points camhead. We need a congressional committe to look into this. A few years, 45 million dollars, and we will have the answers you seek.

I heard and read about people, who back in the 80's, have climbed 5.13s wearing INDOOR SOCCER SHOES. Just because they didn't have money to buy climbing shoes and the rubber of those shoes shoes were good enough. of course, if you can you will go for the best, but in this case what is "the best"?? steath c4 may be considered the best rubber ever, but come 5.10 lacks on design SOOO much. and come on? patriotism?? no people do what is good for their own spirit. if someone PROVES, that some other shoe, let's say Czech SALTIC, is way better then 5.10 and Sportiva. Would you buy them?? or no you can't because you are american?? plz, gimme a break. and more. I don't climb 5.15's, but if someday I put a pair of 5.10 on and magicaly climb one, where would be the fun?? I would go back to my pair of Trinity's by SNAKE and make my way to a 5.15 with hardwork and swet but for the next 15 day I'll just sit back and relax with nice CAST

I used to climb 5.15 when I wore 5.10's. Then I switched to La Sportiva and started onsighting 5.17's. That was good, but when I switched to Evolv, 5.20 was like taking candy from a baby. You may not have heard about it because I try to keep it real and don't seek publicity. It's about the climbing, man. Not the shoes.

In reply to: dude, this thread is not a joke, it is dead serious. I for one don't want America's best all-around free climber pandering to a bunch of beret-wearing horse-eaters, who have silent consonants at the end of their words, and I am seriously considering writing a letter to Rock'n'Ice about this whole matter. In a post 9-11 world, we cannot afford this kind of economic treachery. Holy sweet f*cking jesus. I hope to hell you still are joking. Key question, WHO GIVES A FLYING FUCK!?!?! Since when is there some kind of rivalry between American and European climbers? Has it occured to you that 5.10 shoes are now incredibly overpriced and poorly built? Jesus H Christ! What a joke.

Why all the French bashing? Last time I checked Sportivas are made in Italy. And the only place you'll see someone wearing a longsleeved stripped T and a beret is in Paris, Vegas. And isn't it more important who's foot is inside the shoe then who's shoe is on the foot?

Dude, you've got to be lying. There's no way that TOMMY CALDWELL has switched to italian rubber. I won't believe it. It's insane. It's unheard of. What about CHRIS SHARMA and DAVID GRAHAM, are they climbing with foreign rubber too? I'll bet that a good ole boy like JOHN SHERMAN would never defect over to the damn unpatroitic side. Gawd, what is the world coming too. Fuck this, I'm giving up climbing forever and taking up that sport where you balance the little top thing on the string between two sticks. Now THAT is a real sport. Pshaw, climbers...

Berets I can do without, but don't knock horse meat until you've tried it. It's actually quite good. Have some with a baguette and cheese, argue endlessly over nothing, and you're golden.

In reply to: Why all the French bashing? Last time I checked Sportivas are made in Italy. That's deffinitly just a front for Sportiva. If they let it leek tout hat they were french... Even Caldwell wouldn't be climbing on that eurotrash. "La Sportiva" sounds french enough to me!

French? Badmiton? It's the Koreans and Chinese that kick a-- at it. Was in the hospital and a 3 in the morning it's amazing what you can find on TV.
