i read in a recent rock and ice that allan watts has finished his new guidebook for smith--when is it due to hit the shelves?

There were rumors on cascadeclimbers.com that some people have received advance copies of the guide, but I haven't found anything about a definitive date yet for the real deal.
As soon as I find anything out I'll be sure to let folks know.

If you want a copy of the old guide book go to redpoint, on the road to smith, they still have copies, i just picked one up.
