Anyone in the Denver area know of some fun things to do in Denver on my vacation other than climbing. I'm already planning on going to Paradise and Rock-n and Jam-n. Any other ideas would be swell!!

Go up to Eldo or Boulder Canyon. You should be able to at least score a belay. Far better than pulling plastic. Check out Rocky Mountain National Park, even as a touron. Its incredible. The Museum of Natural History (sorry, Nature and Science) is pretty cool too. Also, if you're of age, take the brewery tours. Two in Fort Collins, one in Golden. Go hiking in the Flatirons. Bear Peak is a pretty cool hike and (if the rumors are true) if you draw a line from North Pole to South Pole through the peak, then every thing east of that line until you hit Spain or France is lower than that. Check out Pearl Street in Boulder and 16th Street in Denver. Go bouldering at Flagstaff Mountain (if you can't make it up to Poudre Canyon or Horsetooth).

Check out the Gothic Theater in Denver. It's an old movie theater, restored and turned into a club featuring live bands. Very cool.

Any other ideas would be swell!! Why would you be going to a climbing gym??? There are tons of great areas in the Denver/Boulder area to go climb. Seems like a waste to go to a climbing gym. They are all pretty much variations on the same theme. As far as what to do other than climb. What do you enjoy doing?

Well, I'm going to a gym because my friend hasn't ever climbed before and therefore I have nobody to belay me and also because she doesn't have any gear. Not even shoes. Trust me, I would LOVE to climb outside if I knew where to go and had enough gear.

There are lots of places to go and people to climb with. Hell, post up here and you'll likely find some volunteers. You might also check climbingboulder.com for climbing beta - their search tool kicks ass.

Like Amber_chk said there are probably people who are willing to take you and your friend out to some of the crags. Especially those of us with off weekend days off.

You should hit up the Front Range Climber's thread the week before you head out. I know that I'll have some days off in that timeframe. Perhaps I can give you a tour. I'm sure some of the others there will be more than willing to take you out. Skip the gym and get on the rock.

Eldo and Rocky mtn park are all right I guess but the best climbing in Denver is at Casa Bonita. There are some great boulder problems behind the waterfall and in black barts cave. The margaritas are decent but watch out for the food. Have fun

In reply to: Rent "things to do in Denver when you're dead". Never seen it, but that was the first thing that came to mind when I read the question. Andy Garcia is in that, isn't he?

Actually Denver just got rated as the drunkiest city in America. Plenty of drunking to do around here...
