As the title alludes to I'm a poor college student and, well 10 dollars a night just doesn't work for me. Is their any camping remotely near DL that's either free or fairly cheap

Yeah, it's getting to a private campground at 1am and waking at 5am to avoid paying. I guess thats kind of illegal. But, I'm sure I'm not the only one thats done it that way.

Oh yeah, and just use a sleeping bag, a tent takes too long to pack in a hurry.

Head to Baraboo and sack out in Walmart's parking lot. You wont be alone! Walmart does not seem to discourage it.

Check out Green Acres. just south about a mile on Hwy 12. i think it is 4 or 5 bucks....

$6 a nite at Green Valley. Not sure what Wheeler's rate is anymore, since it's been awhile since I've been there. But, I seem to remember that it was around the same amount as Devil's Lake. The camp and run approach isn't the best either, as the park actually will drive around very early (varying times) to check on everything.. There are a few "hidden" camp grounds that I've heard of, but don't know the where-abouts to. Sorry, wish I could be a bit more help..
