Last weekend 10/22 we saw some photography scaffolding set up on Picnic Lunch Wall. I think Adam Stack was trying to send some crazy line on it but I don't know for sure Also we saw someone cleaning or photographing on the Great Roof on Brogan Spire. What was going on? I'm a Smith nerd so if anyone knows I'd appreciate you sharing.

Hey there- My wife talked to a group of climbers that were at the base of that scaffolding, and she was told that they were shooting footage for a video. They told her that the line that was being climbed was 14a. That's all I got for ya unless I spray the names of the pros I saw that weekend. :)

Rodden was working the Great Roof pitch in the Marsupials early in the week so they may have been shooting posed frames for the mags or something like that when you saw them. The filming rig was set up for a couple of days on the Picnic Lunch Wall while we were in the park (10/22-25). Beth and Tommy were over in Terrebonne signing autographs at the time so it could have been Stack on that line. Someone also said it was Sharma, but that rumor is totally unsubstantiated. We watched the filming on Picnic Lunch Wall for a while on Saturday. That line looked pretty desperate, though in a perfect position for touron oogling from the parking lot. The camera rig was gone when we got back into the park on Sunday.

They were filming a technique video on how to redpoint. The camera was on guide wires so they could always shoot the moves from the same angle and show how the climbers improved their technique and sequence as they came closer to redpointing. Both Adam Stack and Chris Linder were working the route and it is called "The Big R". The rating is either 14a or b, depends who you talk to. The great roof is over in the marsupials and I doubt many people say them doing the photo shoot on that.
