When I was little, I climbed the narrow hallways in my house chinmey style (with my bare feet and handds out to the sides). I'd climb until I hit the ceiling and my parents could walk underneath me. In kindergarden, while the other little ones were playing Chinese jumprope, I tried to pull the same stunt on the palmtrees nearby. I got up pretty far until the teachers started to notice... Has anybody seen the issue of climbing with photos of bouldering spots on Univesity campuses? I work in the computer lab of La Paz dorm... literally feet from where one of those was taken. Now all I need are the guts to bring my climbing shoes to work with me...

well when i had a 3 week break (i was broke) from climbing i went absolutly crazy i climbed trees, the house, through rungs of a ladder, anything over 2 meters high basically but most shameful of all me and my family were on a busy road waiting for a lift and on the side of a building looked like it would be very fun so in front of tones of cars and pedesterians i started to climb the walls after that my sister called me a freak and my mum was very embarresed but it was in good fun

The Mexican Hat out in the utah desert. An easy A0 bolt ladder, but was so cool. Ancient art is a close second.

The beach walls in Seapoint, Cape Town are five meters high, cut granite block walls where you can traverse for up to 50 meters. The weirdest was when I traversed over 5 sunbathing couples lying on the beach without anyone noticing anything.

Never climbed anything too unusual, but I have a tendancy to climb up the slides at playgrounds. Also climb over the covers on the tube-style slide using the raised adges where the pieces connect. We have an old swingset in the back yard with a set of monkey bars that I climb around on top of. I want to go back to my old elemetary school sometime cuz they have this great brick wall! There's also a small bit of brick on one part of school. I'll have to get there early sometime to check it out!

i just patched a hole in my sheetrock in the hallway.. caused by a back, using the hallway as an off-width crack / boulder problem / traverse thingy. At one point i had a foot on a light switch cover, and a foot on the cold air return. (i'm not the dumbass who put the hole in the wall.. That was my homie) Peaze frawg

I climb the underside and sides of those big wooden playground structures while my kids play on them. They usually have some great small cracks and edges. I bouldered on the outside of the visitors center as you enter Tennessee from Kentucky. The employees did not find it amusing at all, but it had some great small edges!! the inside of a schoolbus, from one end to the other and all over the ceiling. Also a phallus-shapen spire of rock in Hatcher's Pass, AK aptly named "Penis Rock."

I climbed half way up the duty free store off I87 just after you cross into Canada from New York. I stopped because this old lady started yelling at me in french. *shrug* Looking back perhaps she was cheering me on.... *smirk* or maybe not. G.

????inkin playground equiptment bouldering, but then I remember that I used to have a job in a carpet warehouse. I was inventory control, so I had to go around and look for lost rolls of carpet. They were huge rolls of uncut, unfinished goods stacked in piles around thirty feet high, with little 4x8 inch tickets stapled on to Id them. I basically got paid to climb around the warehouse and make sure that all of the tickets matched their location. Thirty foot concrete ground falls will eventually ruin your knees. Kinda cool being paid to climb though. I guess thats as close as I'll ever be to being a sponsored climber. [ This Message was edited by: biggernhell on 2002-06-22 15:50 ]

I builder on a church that’s near my house quite a bit. It’s made out of some kind of stone or cement mix that isn’t uniform at all. Makes for endless possibilities.

Not very weird, but I also builder alot here in Batavia, (an hour west of chicago), not many places to climb, or at least without PAYING for gym time...but there's TONS of 150 year old limestone buildings, and the rain erodes it over time. theres churches i climb on, 100'+ ones. I can only climb at night cuz the police arent too freindly...but when its dark, with onlya headlamp, your buddy, and a few pitches worth of rope....seems jsut liek back in yosemite!! Chris

I was a leading hand with a bunch of roofers at Tarong Power station whilst it was getting built. We were working on the coal slot bunkers which had 35 degree pitch roofs. Out of all the roofers I was the only dummie who would go out on the purlins a hundred feet above the concrete without a harness and apply the isolation tape to the top of the purlins. The purlins were 6 feet apart so it was a bit of a stretch from one purlin to the next. One of my aprentices related to me that he and a mate climbed to the top of one of the tower cranes right to the tip of the pulley. I`ve also been to the top of a dragline at a coal mine, very special view from a hundred and fifty feet up looking as far as the eye can see both north and south gaining a perspective on just how huge that mine really is. ...Phil...

A drywalled wall that was going to get torn down with my hammers, and pieces of rebar duct taped to my boots, like I was ice climbing, 2nd this huge fake giant sequia tree at the local Magic Mt. until I got spotted by security.

My moms brick chimney, nothing but crimpers and edges and its quite painful. A few flag poles, stainless steel pipeing hanging from the ceiling at work, up the underside of 3 flights of concrete steps that led to my old apartment. Yeah, I know not very wierd, but I'm going to keep my eye open for more. Steve

I climbed the aluminum scalfolding around the Washington Monument in DC a few years ago during the renovation. Did not get the opportunity to climb the entire thing in one go but the stuff that I did was like climbing big monkey bars.
