I try to mix it up so it doesnt get boring

usually it is based on :
chocolate Whey
low fat yogurt : usual Bleuberry, sometimes ras
Kiwi
Oj

I add some Omega3 oil in at the last min, give it a stir, and drink it down. Don't let the fish oil either sit in it (ie for a long time, like in the fridge). or pool on the surface. Cause you will do totally taste it then . YAk. If you dump, stir and go, it is rarley noticable.

I did one this morning with:

1 scope Whey protein, unflavored
1/2 apple
1 banana
4 large frozen strawberries
1/4 cup blueberries/strawberries
1 Tbsp liquid vitamins
ice

The protein is still a bit too strong though. Does anyone use coffee extract or other strong flavorings to subdue the "yeck" factor?

DON'T USE SOY PROTEIN! Tastes nasty. It'll ruin any shake.

I find it gives me gas too.

I go for whey, alittle Vanilla yogurt, whatever fruit I have laying around the house and some wheat germ

In reply to:

Soy protein gives me gas, cramping, nausea, diarreah, and fatigue that lasts for about 2 days! Buyer beware. But I guess it works fine for some people.

My favorite recipe:
whey protein (plain or vanilla)
frozen fruit (blueberry, rasberry, mango and/or strawberry)
banana
a little orange juice
milk
(optional) quinoa flakes
(optional) emergen-c

Also:
whey protein (plain or vanilla)
milk
cocoa powder
almonds
sweetener (banana or sugar)

Also, this is a great hydration/recovery drink for climbing or mtn biking:
1 emergency
2/3 cup orange juice
1 Tbsp whey protein powder (vanilla or plain)
"a little" salt (haven't measured exactly the right amount yet)
water to equal 1 quart/litre total liquid

The OJ has plenty of potassium+sugar, the emergen-c has a ton of vitamins plus some trace minerals, the salt is essential for hydration, and the protein helps w/ muscle recovery. It doesn't taste good, but it keeps me going at max capacity for a lot longer than plain water or gatorade do.

Yeah, I used to be a Veg but I found those replacements for dairy really screwed with my system. I have no problem drinking cow lactate - or anyother kind of lactate for that matter.

Whats really good is Vanilla Protien powder. apple juice, and cinnamon. Its like drinking Apple Pie.

I do this:

6 Tbsps of the generic Winco Soy Protien powder = 30 g of protein
1 cup of TJ's organic Soy milk = 5 g of protien, 2.5 g of fat
half a frozen bananna
some frozen berries (unsweetened) from one of the TJ's berrie medley.

I've also tried the Super Pro-Green PRo-96 Soy Protein from naturslife.com. It has a bunch of extra stuff which might do something, or it might just get people to pay a whole lot more for it. :?

Strawberry-banana smoothie:
-frozen strawberries
-cranberry juice
-strawberry protien powder (whey)
-one banana

p.s also tastes great with vanilla protien powder. I notice no bad protien taste with either flavours. Also, I hate cranberry juice, but the taste is covered up when you mix it with the other ingredients. Any other juice can be added in place of cranberry juice depending on how sweet you want it.

what really gives me results is when I rub a good bit of "the cream" all over my back and arms, and then follow that up with an injection of HGH in my butt.

Is that a joke?

Whey Protein
1 Cup Oatmeal
1 Banana
1 Scoop Creatine

Then one or two of the following:
1 Cup Strawberies
1 Cup Blueberries
1 Cup Raspberries
1 Cup Blackberries

I have found over the years that the banana is the most important ingredient.

Years ago I used to put just the raw whites in my shakes as a source of protein. Well, I eventually got Salmonella, and after a week and a half of sh!ting blood and loosing around 15lbs, I realized it probably wasn't a good idea.

I don't know....egg whites are high in protein and you loose 15lbs. Sounds like a winning recipe to me.

My shake:
Fat Free cottage cheese (I know, it sounds gross, but it's actually pretty good and high in protein). A banana for potassium (gets your brain going in the morning) OJ and yogurt......blend that shit.

Mine is simple and good for the joints...

banana
Chocolate Whey (2 scoops Trader Joes Brand... surprisingly cheap!)
1 cup Rice milk (I'm lactose intolerant plus soy tastes nasty to me)
Liquid Chond. Glucosamine (1 Tbsp)
...sometimes I'll add frozen mixed berries or mango.

Blend well though b/c the glucosamine is nasty if it's all in one place.
If I'm on the road I subtract the fruits and make it in a salad dressing shaker.

The Glucosamine has really helped my joints. I'm not good at popping pills so putting it in my shake insures getting it.

Cheers!

I use vanilla flavored weigh. If you put that in + fat free milk and bananas you can make a killer bananna milk shake that goes down smooth, but you still get all the protein you wanted, but non of the fat.

12oz (or more) of skim milk
Scoop of protein powder
Scoop of ultra slim fast french vanilla
Banana
A few ice cubes

Maybe toss in some strawberries, too.

Nummy.

How about any other recipies without bannanas? For some weird reason I just can't stand the taste of them.

If you're looking for a whey protein that tastes pretty good a company called BIOTEST makes the best I've ever tried. They sell a Low-Carb variety (if that's what you're into) that does not, unlike a lot of other sweetened whey powders, taste like a chemical.

I've tried the Vanilla. I think it is called Metabolic Drive. If I was forced to give you an idea of how good it tastes, I'd pick it over Twizzlers but not over Red Vines. Only downside is that I've had trouble finding it anywhere other than online.

Regarding raw eggs--I can see the appeal of using them in lieu of protein powder for a few reasons, though I note the risk of food borne illness. If someone is really keen on going this way, consider a product like Egg Beaters which are pasteurized egg whites. So you can get the egg protein without the fear of bacterial infection. Though it does bump up the $$.

Just a thought anyway.

If someone is feeling really sassy with the blender, I'll toss out a recipe I found while surfing the net bleary eyed one night. I happened upon a bodybuilding forum discussion on best Hi-protein recipes for weight loss. The most hardcore:

1 can tuna
Some Ice Cubes
Blend

I'd try it if I had some ice cubes.

Why not eat the tuna with a fork. Or even a spoon. Now you have a fishy smelling blender.

has anyone notice the amount of cholesterol in some of the protein powders!!!

For example, I have some Wellements Pro-Rated protein, one scoop provides 27g of protein but you also get 13% of your cholesterol. I weigh around 180 so if I were to follow the advice of 1g of protein per pound of body weight I'd have to take about 6 scoops of protein which would lead to 78% of my cholesterol.

I think All The Whey protein is more healthy in this regard. They both taste pretty nasty. I tried to get some of the Biotest stuff (also really high in cholesterol) but it's discontinued (the low carb at least).

i just went and looked at my protein powder (optimum nutrition brand, whey) and it has 30 mg cholesterol (10% of recommended daily value). i hadn't noticed that before. i am kind of surprised by this. i'm not too worried because i rarely have more than 1 scoop a day, but it is still wierd.
