Hello kids!! Sick still so wasnt' at work yesterday. Man, these have hit me hard this year. Still no snow here, beautifull and +10 every day isn't condusive to alot of skiing... Things with the Crush (since I'm sure you were all dying to know) are great, he seems to have not noticed the suckiness as much as me. Yesterday, he put a drill bit through his thumb. Yuck. I think he should go to the hospital but he seems to think it's fine...he can see the spot on the other side where it almost came out the bottom. Eww.

Morning Grunts, The Have you ever been published? thread got me thinking. So I dug around the Phoenix archives to see if I could find this picture. I wish it was bigger in file. In print it ran full spread across the first two pages in the Arts & Entertainment section of the year 2000 Best of Boston edition of the Phoenix. http://www.bostonphoenix.com/...e_modelcafe_kula.gif That's me in the center that everyone is piled on. It was during the second phase of my blond period. Back row ltr are JohnToy, Tall Paul, Blond Mike, and Big Mick. The caption read something like, "Be careful what you wish for or you might find yourself with these guys playing Metallica covers in someone's basement."

Winter, hope he's OK. Fact is there probably isn't much the doc's could do except bandage it and look for infections. Drills don't leave anything behind to stitch or repair as such. :? I told you guys are used to some freak out. He probably noticed but figured it was a minor blip and mentioning it only makes it moe than it needs to be. Sounds like you found a reasonable one. 8^) The "Not being psycho this weekend" plan is probably still prudent, though.

Morning peeps, Ben go take a mini-break for yourself! Relax, drink some beer & go climb something. A temporary lay-off sounds awesome (well as long as you can still pay the bills). Winter I think your boy needs to have a doctor look at that - if only to be certain it doesn't get infected and it heals properly. But hey it's his finger right?! When does he visit? Was it this weekend? Congrats on the 4.0 katydid!!! That is fantastic! :D

hi Marge!! Yup Maww, it's this weekend that he's here. Apparently he got some ointment for it....he says the same as Wide, it's a hole, they can't really stitch it. I wouldn't say fine motor skills are one of his strong suits....he won't be taking up needlepoint any time soon.

Cause you can't find an apartment? Live in your truck like the rest of the ski bums. It's high time you stopped making excuses and got on with it. Did it ever occur to you that the reason you keep failing this test is that subconscoiusly you don't really want to leave the comfort and safety of the nest? Get the fuck up there and work on the mountain all winter. If, come spring, you happen to be a few dollars in the hole, so the fuck what.... Some times you have to take an initial loss to gain in the end.

Some times you have to take an initial loss to gain in the end. Jake, there is NO WAY you are going to avoid some sort of finanacial disaster when you move out of your mom's house. no way. once you're out on your own, completely self supporting, hte wolves are ALWAYS at the door. Somtimes the door is several flights down, and sometimes the door is on the closet you're hiding in after the wolves have ransacked the appt, but they're always there, slavering, ready to burst thru the door and pounce. best just suck it up and get used to it. Paycheck-to-paycheck is the rule, rather than the exception. ...as for me, long ago I invited them in.

Jake I did sugest you do the truck thing...(I have done the car thing before) ...0 degree/-15degree bags are great... And you are ignoring the potential to shack up with guests on the Mountain? As far as your test...I would not say you are intentionally failing it, but can you say you are trying your hardest? Best of luck, and find some motivations somewhere man, Jason

My truck cab is not big enough to live in, if you hadnt noticed it's fucking cold in NH and a truck is not warm enough for that... blah blah i could go on i'm not subconciously doing anything.. or else i wouldnt have kept trying to pass the test over and over .. i like what i went to school for but it's too bad the written simulation does a horrible job of actually testing for compentency expected out of a recent graduate what would i gain by being up there that would pay me back afterwards? nothing if you'd like to send me over 6-700 each month so that you could in the spring gain a place to crash for climbing at rumney and cathedral ... whats a few bucks in the hole eh?

In reply to: My truck cab is not big enough to live in... No one said cab...you do have a bed right? You could get a (USED)tanno cover, or a cap. I wouldn't want to live there forever, but 3 months is not forever. I think the real reason you aren't going is you don't want to be away from RC.com hehe...jk.

i am trying as hard as i can to pass my test jason.. the problem is is that they are random scenario's that i do not have any way of knowing what they will be... so studying is more of a matter of general knowledge and working through the steps rather than knowing exactly what you are giong to be faced with and memorizing it.. i'm not sure many of the people here are in that kind of a field jason.. how long did you sleep in a truck??? in northern new hampshire? hardly comfy enough to live there for 4 months in the middle of the winter a cap.. yes.. more money in the hole.. then there is insulation, figuring out a place to park, showers, clean clothes etc.. and did i mention it's FUCKING COLD and jason unlike you i am not OK with hooking up with random girls for a night of sex and nothing more.. so the whole "guest" thing is out rob i'm aware that it will be pay check to pay check... BUT when i'm LOSING money each month why SHOULD i put that upon myself? i've made up my mind.. nothing you say is being considered as options.. that is all jake

Winter: Dunno when I'm going ice climbing. Whenever it gets cold enough to ice up (who knows when down here in the states...sigh) and dunno even if it's gonna end up happening. i got a promise, but thats about it Pirate: werd I forgot but there was something else I wanted to say. Sigh. Oh, yeah. Katydid: Congrats, that is soooo awesome! And um, Yay I got a good review by my boss! Glowing praise all around. I actually blushed in her office from the spewing of gratititude. But, for all that, I still just "Met Expectations". Not "Exceeded Expectations". Ah well, at least I'll get a moderate bonus in March. K.

In reply to: and jason unlike you i am not OK with hooking up with random girls for a night of sex and nothing more.. so the whole "guest" thing is out Not TRUE...sometimes there is more sex and quite often breakfast. Truthfully Jake, this I have only been fortunate enough to experience this a handfull of times. I am not a huge slut and I would never consider myself a player (god knows I'm not that good at the game). I have slept in my car several times when I was more "more think than I drunk I am" last winter. The nights when It snowed made it easy to sleep late...your car covered in snow...allowing a dull gray light to barely penetrate...very calming. Also I am probably going backbacking in the whites or Biggalow with my friend Josh in the upcomming weeks. Cold isn't really an obstacle, just something to be planned for. Best of luck in what ever avenue of employment you persue. I am still young and stupid and living in a vehicle would not be beyond me. Good luck Jake, Jason
