I also had a M.U.L.E. before buying the H.A.W.G., which seemed like the perfect pack at the time. After about a year of regular use I've found that when it's full of water it never holds as much gear as I'd like or expect, and when I strap my rope to it the shoulder straps are woefully inadequate under the load. If you're looking for a technical daypack I'd recommend a hydration-ready climbing pack from BD, TNF or Osprey with more room, better suspension and a more durable shell.

I've hadan older one for about 3 years now. I use it for day hikes and 4-wheeling trips. 100oz. is tons and the storage is great for just the right amount of stuff for a day hike. The little side pockets are great for emergency gear.

I already had the M.U.L.E. from Camelbak and it was good but not quite big enough for my tradding needs. When I saw the H.A.W.G I knew it was a winner. A two man team with one of these each can carry a full rack, helmets, shoes, warm top and waterproof in to a crag, and have enough water and a bit of grub for a full day out. I never go out without it.
Expensive, bit if you want the best, you have to pay.
