Description

The Metolius Monster 9.8mm Rope has the easy handling of a thin line, the durability of a fat line, and Monster Markers to reduce the chances of accidents while belaying and rappelling. Monster Markers are bright pieces of string that stick out from the rope in the middle and 30ft from each end. These highly visible marks are felt when they travel through your hands, so its less likely that youll lower or rappel past the end of your rope. Each Monster rope is also Teflon coated for increased abrasion resistance, and their specially twisted cores reduce kinking and increase your ropes life. Even with all these safety features, the 9.8mm Monster Rope maintains the excellent handling you need for hard redpoints and long, difficult trad climbs.

I had a similar experience to jrathfon. It kinked like crazy and was completely fuzzy-caterpiller dead after two months of about 10 pitches/week. Not too much dogging, and very little TRing. I was pretty dissappointed.

No problems with it so far, had it for about two years, still climbs very well.

quickly becoming a favorite rope of mine. 5 stars for trad, handles well, light (pretty comparable to other skinies) and kinks less. However, I have not used for sport or top roping --- seems like it is tough enough but ... I am generally hesitant to use skinnies for tr and sport (old dog/new trick syndrom) and, since I have no real need to run it through a day of sport climbs, have not done so yet. bottom line - (IMO) basically equal to Mammut ropes I have owned/used (made at same plant I suspect) and way ahead of bw, beal, edelrid, et al

Best thing about monster ropes is that they come with a metolius rope bag. Other than that, a great rope...tough and just the right size for all around (10.2mm)
