Great shoe 5 out of 5 stars

Review by: casco, 2009-08-09

The shoe wonīt get bigger with time, so donīt buy it extra small. Rubber is a bit slippery, but very hard, great for slabs. I resoled with vibram rubber, they are now a great shoe, just donīt wear it for overhangs, thatīs not what this shoe is for.

I had the pontas and they got to small for me. I looked at the evolve website and they had a sale/closeout on a bunch of shoes. I got the KAOS FOR $20!!!!!!! it was a great deal. I love evolve they are the best shoe company around.

Good shoes 4 out of 5 stars

It does everything well (e.g., edging, smearing) and seems to excell on vertical to slightly overhanging face. I wear them the same size as my street shoe size and I have a wide foot with slightly longer second toe and narrow heel. The construction is solid. Because of it's synthetic, there was no stretching but it it molded into my foot nicely. The heel cup is deeper than other shoes brands but fits my feet better than any 5.10 models. My only criticism is the layout of the ruber around the heel isn't really ideal for heel-hooking but that was not the limitation for me. After a few years of uses and two resoles, the rubbers around the heel are cracking and stretched out quite a bit. I never seen this on any of my other shoes before.

great shoe 4 out of 5 stars

I purchased these shoes used from a friend because mine old shoes had major holes developing and he wasn't using these anymore. He had quite a bit of use out of them already so I didn't expect to get much wear from them. After using them for two months I really love these shoes. They are easily the most comfortable shoes I've climbed in and have great grip and edging. I've finally worn them completely out though with a massive hole developing in the left toe. I love them so much though, that I am going to have them re-soled.
I highly recommend these to anyone.

good cheap shoe 3 out of 5 stars

This is a great shoe if you like softer soles. Provided good edging and smearing, but not that comfortable, particularly in the heal. Seemed to ride high around the back of the ankle that rubbed my foot fairly raw. (I don't have skinny feet or ankles so this may not be a problem for non-fat footed folks). After several months of breaking them in, they did better. Like all Evolve shoes I've climbed in so far, the rubber blew out after only a few months of consistant climbing (everyweekend + 3 times a week...although I didn't use them trad climbing or very often in the gym). Not recommended if you want an all day shoe, these babies had to come off as soon as I hit the ground every time.
