Review 5 out of 5 stars

Review by: bensnyder, 2005-03-15

Maybe a little expensive, but whatever. These shoes are the most precise shoes I have ever worn. There is a very real gap in performance between these and other shoes on overhangs - the other companies have a lot of catching up to do.

Added - now that I have had these shoes for a few months, I appreciate them even more. They will hold onto nothing (they can actually smear on vertical walls very well with some creative ankle twisting), are super sensitive, and are just the ticket for hard bouldering. It can be a pain to tie and untie them, but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make. All said, these shoes have no real flaws and are still running strong...

love these shoes...the lace up version of mantras. the sensitivity in these shoes is great. they edge and frontpoint like no others, and given the laces, you can really dial in the fit. not for beginners, though.
i got a slightly used demo pair down at the red for $50. can't beat it.

I've owned about a dozen different pairs of shoes and can say that the Testarossa is by far one of my fav's. I, like others here, have high arches and a wide forefoot, and the shoe is very comfortable for me even when performance-sized. Fit and construction are top notch. The price has come down substantially since they were originally introduced, so that's a plus as well. Minor caveat's are the lacing, length of the laces (you've GOT to cut them down), the flashy colors, and that they are generally a high-performance shoe with a very specific target market. They are a specialized shoe, not a do-it-all shoe (for which I would suggest the Anazazi Velcro, still a stand-by for me), but when the angles turn steep on sport or bouldering, this is THE shoe to have on my feet.

Itīs a grat shoe. the only problem with the shoe is that he is getting more wide in the first weeks. so i have buyed mi testarossa very small. My size is normaly 45. i wanted the shoe in 41. after some weeks he doesnīt hurt so much and fits great.
