Review 4 out of 5 stars

Hell, these work way better in small cracks than Camalots. I mean, Camalots have their place, but in a tiny slot, especially sandstone, FCUs are the way to go. Next to Aliens, these are my fave small cam, especially for free climbs. The bigger sizes walk a wee bit, though, and perform like a TCU more than I like.

I like em. These were the first cams I bought. They are light and are very smooth. I don't think that they work as passive protection or not, though hopefully you won't need to use em that way. I think that they are easier to place than camalots or aliens for sure. Also they are relatively cheap.

These were the first cams that I purchased (I also own a few camalots, which are definitely the cadillac of SLCD's). As a new trad climber, these units are more than adequate (for the level of leads I am taking). I own 1-10 and can protect a wide variety of climbs. The action is smooth and they are very stable when placed. These are great for a starter rack and I would recommend them to anyone starting out. Usually, you can find sets of them on sale. The range finder feature is also nice because you can analyze your placements as a beginner quickly (most experienced climbers will find this feature to be more gimmick than quality).
